  1. The Cragars (with smooth center caps) are included, but they're not chrome plated. Alclad was used for the mags pictured on the box.
  2. Round2 never "cancelled" an MPC Demon re-issue. The original plan was to base the Demon on the new-tool AMT/Ertl '71 Duster, not the old MPC tool. When Round2 announced an upcoming '71 Demon, everyone assumed it was a re-issue of the old MPC kit....Round2 never called it a "re-issue".
  3. That is EXACTLY what I said to a guy about 25 years ago; he was laughing at me for buying a bunch of Johan USA Oldies
  4. Definitely the Model Cave.
  5. Yours is identical to one of mine; a '73/'74 body with '72 chrome. What makes the body a '73-4 is the smooth roof. An accurate '71-2 body has T-top-like creases pressed into it (Google some pics and you'll see what I mean). The original Johan '71-2 annuals had the creases molded in. I wouldn't be bothered by the minor inaccuracy. I purchased mine from a long-time knowledgeable collector who bought and built the kit years ago without ever noticing the error.
  6. The model year is a hard question to answer for that particular box. I believe that box art was originally used for the '72 annual. It was brought back when Johan reissued the kit in the '70's, but various parts/model years were found in the box. I have one that contained a '73/'74 kit, and another that contained a '73/'74 body with '72 chrome. Every '71-'74 Johan Javelin I've ever seen contains the same crude interior (about four pieces total) with an identical seat pattern. I have no idea if the pattern is unique to any particular model year.
  7. Definitely '54 Chevys. PMC maybe?
  8. For those into obscure model kits, one of the Japanese companies issued a 1/32 scale kit of the Toyota Cavalier.
  9. MPC issued four modifieds in the same time period with (I've been told) '57 Chev chassis, including the '34 Ford you mention. They shared a common engine as well (BB Chev?). The others were a '36 Chev, a Pinto and a Vega. They have all been reissued along with the Tobias cars Art mentioned under the AMT logo in the last few years. Someone more familiar than me with the 1:1 cars can answer the accuracy question. Quality-wise, they're all old tools that require some patience to work with (especially the Tobias cars).
  10. Yes...send them your suggestions
  11. The kit you bought might have a different front bumper if it's an early (made in Mexico) issue. The first run had an incorrect bumper that was missing the W-30 scoops beside the parking lights. I believe it was corrected when production moved to China, still with the same box art. Regardless of which one you have, it's still a nice kit and a good deal.
  12. When the EXP/LN7 were introduced a buddy and I went to a local dealership and took one out for a test drive. Once we got out on the open road and put our foot in it, we both laughed out loud at how slow it was. Sure, it was an economy car, but today if you picked up the lowliest, cheapest econobox out there and got the kind of performance that car had, you'd want your money back. As for safety, a few years ago I had a "big one" in an '06 Civic (65-70MPH to zero in a split second). Even though everything ahead of the cowl was destroyed (had to be flat-bedded otherwise the engine/transaxle/front suspension would have been lying on the ground after picking it up) the only visible damage from the driver's seat was the deployed air bag and a cracked windsield. Luckily, I went home that night. I'd hate to try that in an EXP.
  13. I'm hoping the same thing. I picked up an MPC Toyota Supra from the same era awhile back...you can actually read "B F GOODRICH RADIAL T/A" imprinted on the windshield.
  14. It's a modified/altered Polara. Johan issued the original annual back in '64, with the correct Polara side trim. It was reissued later in the '60's (I believe the Hemi was added at that time). It came back in the '70's as the '64 Dodge Super Stock (GC-2864), with the prominent Polara mid-body trim removed. That's the one you have...the missing trim might lead someone to identify it as a 440.
  15. I've always preferred the old promo-based annuals over later releases...including the much-talked-about '70 Cuda. What we have here is an MPC '67 Mustang. AMT had the promo contract back then, and their kit was much more accurate looking than the MPC kit...better than the Ertl/AMT new-tool kit too. I don't know if my MPC '67 is complete (instructions missing), but it doesn't have those oversize headlights in the box....it only has a pair of stock-looking headlights that look much more accurate. Back in the mid-'60's any model company just had to market a Mustang kit, accurate or not.
  16. The AMT '67 Camaro annual had a set of those molded in one piece with the outer wheel. I think they're available from Modelhaus
  17. Licensing has to be obtained for each individual kit. The VW Zinger would have been approved a few years ago, and they would have to repeat the process each time a new release is planned (i.e. the Bugaboo)
  18. So YOU are the culprit! I had my eye on that SVO.
  19. I don't think the recent Round2 release of the '68 Shelby has the SOHC parts in it. You would have to find one of the older Ertl/AMT kits (shouldn't be a problem; there are a lot out there
  20. 1813 Black Pearl is still on Testors' website. I think most of the Car Colors disappeared after the Model Master metallics came along, but I remember seeing Cherry Red and Blue Pearl on the shelves a few years later.
  21. Found an old list in my files; 1801 Cherry Red 1802 Garnet Pearl 1803 Deep Maroon Metallic 1804 Blue Pearl 1805 Sky Blue Metallic 1806 Midnight Blue Metallic 1807 Super Silver Metallic 1808 Mist Gray Metallic 1809 Gray Fern Metallic 1810 Deep Gold Metallic 1811 Sand Gray Metallic 1812 Sandstone Pearl Metallic 1813 Black Pearl 1814 Clear
  22. I've used their decals on about twenty builds over the last five years and have never had this problem. A problem unique to those particular kits perhaps? Have you contacted Round2?
  23. The kit shouldn't be on that website.....it was cancelled
  24. Looks like an Alfa Romeo Type 33
