Huh? Round 2 bought the tooling of AMT, MPC, Lindberg, etc...those definitely are 'large banks of existing tooling'... reissues of existing tooling w/ updated tires, decals, is Round 2s MO...not new tooling.

Time for LUVin'! Retro Street Truck (OOB)
Rob Hall replied to Faust's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Haven't seen a 1:1 Luv in a long time..saw a really battered faded red one in Scottsdale maybe 4 years ago...every panel was bent or mangled, but it was still running. Interior was cracked and shredded. -
They could do a retro style box w/ the fastback but with that artwork style. I do wonder what happened to the ht/convertible body and interior tooling.. the convertibles had fragile windshield frames (both the '68 and '69s I have have broken windshield frames). This was the 2005 reissue, I assume the new reissue will be the same as this but w/ new box art and tires, the usual Retro Deluxe marketing.

Still working from home, getting groceries delivered, not going out other than to the vet. Lost one of my dogs due to heart failure a couple weeks ago, that was a bummer..he was 14 and died at home. But trying to enjoy the Spring weather so far, working on the yard, enjoying evenings by the fire pit, grilling..

The original fastback annual kit was a Torino GT (pictured in this thread), different trim from the later Cobra modified reissue. The original Cobra kit from '69 was a coupe/convertible (separate roof). That one has never been reissued (pictured below). I have both the originals and a couple of the later Cobra kits.

Beautiful Spring weather here today...took a 40 min drive down some winding back roads in Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the surrounding area...relaxing to go for a drive even if going no where in particular...

What Was the First Band You Saw in Concert?
Rob Hall replied to Snake45's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
First was Van Halen in 1986, was in high school and went with a group of friends. Best is hard to pick, been to a lot of shows over the last 30+ years, esp. the last 20 years. It might have been David Gilmour in 2004. Though the many U2 shows I saw in the '00s were great, incl. Pearl Jam opening for U2 in Hawaii in 2006...Rolling Stones in '03 and The Who in '06 were great also. Most recent was Dave Mason in March of this year. -
Looks like the Monte Carlo Rally version was Revell of Germany only...there was a Revell US release of the stock version in 2013.

Thanks all for the comments, much appreciated. I love Westies also, we had two of them. Have had 4 Yorkies, 3 Australian Terriers, a Silky and two mixes over the last 15 years.. Henry and Ginny are missing Zoie.
-
Had another one of our senior Yorkies pass last night. He was 14, had been on medication for about 9 months for an enlarged heart and other issues, rushed him to the vet yesterday after a seizure like incident in the yard yesterday. He seemed back to normal yesterday evening, but during the night experienced labored breathing and keeled over from what I believe was a heart attack. I love having dogs, but letting go never gets any less painful. Lost Penny at age 15 last July, have two more Yorkies age 12 and 13 (that seem to be in good overall health).

Not too much different for me other than not going out. I've worked from home since moving here 3 years ago, still working from home. Getting all my groceries via local grocery curbside pickup and delivery, and a lot of deliveries from Amazon and Whole Foods. Yard guys came a couple days ago and started mowing season. Got some supplies for working in the back yard delivered from Home Depot. I do miss eating out, but get Door Dash deliveries occasionally from my favorite local restaurants. Cars sitting in the garage, but I do start them and drive around the neighborhood once a week or so.

I have the 935 kit, it’s nothing like the 928 kit. The 928 is very simplified, almost a snap kit. Here is the original Esci box art https://www.scalemates.com/kits/esci-3057-porsche-928--537515 digging deeper, though, I found this chart linking the AMT 928 back to Nitto. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/nitto-633-porsche-928--537499 So maybe it originated w/ Nitto. I’d read in multiple places it was an ex-Esci tool. But who knows, the origins being over 40 years ago....I have few Esci kits and ex-Esci RoG kits, and they are all curbside kits. The 928 has a partial engine IIRC.
-
Of those Esci reboxes, the 928 is probably the best. The Ferrari was really bad—body shape was way off. As far as 928 kits go, the Fujimi is better. Revell made one also, but I don’t have it.
-
Italian, not Japanese. It was a rebox of an old Esci kit, like the Countach and Ferrari 250 SWB kits released at the same time (around 89-90 IIRC). I built it back then, a very simple kit.

Collectible Automobile Magazine
Rob Hall replied to Tom Geiger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I've been a subscriber for about 30 years, been reading for about 35 years. The only car magazine I still have a print subscription to. -
Yes, they have only 6 automotive kits available, and 5 pages to display them on...and the page layouts differ. Curious.
-
I don't think I've ever seen a set in person, but have seen photos of them on Rabbits, Golfs, Cubes, Miatas, etc...and inexplicably a GMC pickup.
-
Ronal made them IIRC...
-
Yes. Or any of the vintage MPC '81-84 Chevy or GMC kits.

It will be interesting to see if they tool up any new parts for that Mach 1..I doubt it, but we will see...
-
Those wheel covers were very common on '71s... Mach 1s often had them. And in the movie stills, the Mach 1 lettering is visible on the side: Note the white wall tires. Was supposed to be a rental car in the movie IIRC. I'd assume, though, the kit will be the same old, same old MPC '73 w/ a '71-ish grille...maybe now w/ Mach 1 decals instead of Boss 351 decals.
