Good stuff... I need to get that series. I recently got the HW Japan Historics Series 2 and the '68 'Original 16' Custom Thunderbird. Ordered the orange '68 Custom Cougar and the Spoilers King Cuda yesterday.

Correct...the '66 hardtop kit we have today came out first in the Countdown Series around 1977. It was made using the promo body tooling is what I've read.

Speaking of midsize Buicks, the June 18 Collectible Automobile magazine has an article on the 68-72 Buicks. Lots of pics.

There were many made in diecast in many scales, but oddly never a styrene glue kit. The Lindberg kit was a '95-97 style...different body and details. I have a couple of the ones from Classic Metalworks, Maisto, Welly and others also made them in 1/24th-ish IIRC. Classic Metal Works in particular made an unassembled white one with no police markings.

I think my predictions for 2017 will hold for 2018: We will see some reissues, some modified reissues, and some new tools. Some will be predictable, some will be surprises.

Nah, I want to build it eventually..I've got most of the MPC El Camino annuals. I can't recall if I have the Branding Iron version w/ the rear cap, too bad that part wasn't included in later issues.

The box art is hideous, but the stock front bumper is included. I've got one in my stash. Though I do prefer the SS front end over the boring stock front..

And MPC did do the stock '82+ front end El Camino as a kit in '82 only (Red Light Bandit kit), and as promos after that for some years.

Who knows, MPC (and others) did a lot of weird customs in the late 60s...may have been part of the drug culture of the era..

The way I look at it, Revell and Monogram have many owners over the decades, some more successful than others. The brands will likely live on with new owners, away from the financial incompetence of Hobbico and hopefully in a better position..

I like those, along with the crisp '77-79 Mark V... my Dad liked the Marks, but always bought Continentals and Town Cars for the family cars in the '70s-80s. I like the '77-78 Toronado XS with the wrap around rear glass also...

Would be nice..I have the Modelhaus '70 Country Sedan and Country Squire, along w/ their Merc Colony Park.

I'll have to drive down for the event next year..didn't even realize it was last weekend until I saw the posts.

I was born in '70, so I remember a lot of big 70s cars from childhood (my folks drove Fords, Mercurys and Lincolns) and TV shows of the era. 70s cars are a sweet spot of old cars for me...have a bunch in resin and kits in my stash. I especially like the '70s full sizers, personal luxury coupes and convertibles...I like a lot of '60s cars also, but can't really get into 50s and earlier cars much because they were too far before my time.

I like the AMT 1/32nd kits---never had any of these before, but I did get my start as a kid with 1/32nd Revell and Lindberg snap kits in the 70s. I have the Avanti, Ranchero and Mustang, looking forward to the Corvette and anything else they reissue in the future...

I've never seen the '60s gold or blue line tires reproduced exactly, but in decals...IIRC, I got some blue line tire decals from SELtd years ago. Their are wide white/gold line tires currently available in the AMT '58 Chevy Bel Air, but those are 50s style.

I remember buying the AMT 250 SWB, AMT Porsche 928, and AMT Lamborghini Countach (all ESCI tools, I think) at a Big Lots as a teenager back in the day. I built the Porsche and Lambo and they weren't that bad as cheap shelf models. Never built the SWB, though I thought about kitbashing it with an AMT Destroyer monster truck.

I watch 20-30 items all the time, sort of a way to keep a list of items I may want to purchase, and they are often relisted if they sell (these are usually new items, so the seller may have many). Mostly die cast and resin parts.

Since cord cutting and moving last year, I haven't watched much besides The Grand Tour and Top Gear. I need to catch up on Wheeler Dealers (haven't seen it since Edd left). There is a lot of content on YouTube that I like, such as the short films from Petrolicious and The Drive.
