On an automotive forum, one use case I heard for a split dutch door style tailgate was for towing trailers. Seemed plausible... one anecdote I know of was a buddy of mine that towed a popup trailer preferred barn doors on his old Suburban compared to a fold down tailgate. (for clearance on the hitch and propane tanks?).

Allpar had a couple articles about it last year.... nothing has been announced yet. https://www.allpar.com/news/2017/11/the-ram-split-tailgate-is-real-38862 https://www.allpar.com/news/2017/11/is-this-why-they-redesigned-ram-tailgates-38918

Did you experience the Blizzard of '78?

I was 7..my Mom and I were stuck out at our farm in rural Tuscarawas County, Ohio and my Dad was at work in Steubenville, OH 50 miles away. After the storm subsided, he came out to the farm and plowed the 3/4 mile long driveway w/ his John Deere tractor. -

The 2dr Chevelle wagon was only offered for '64 and '65, in the 300 series. MCW and others have made resin kits of them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Chevelle https://www.google.com/search?q=1965+chevy+chevelle+2dr+wagon&client=safari&rls=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwid0qL645LZAhUOWq0KHVWPBO4Q_AUICygC&biw=1425&bih=736#imgrc=_ -
Speaking of the Tide Pod Challenge, while loading the dishwasher, I wondered if Cascade Action Pack dishwashing detergent pods are as tasty. (I don't plan to taste them myself).

How about that Super Bowl last night?

Good game..the teams I usually root for weren't in it, but nice to see the underdog win. The Ram ad w/ Vikings was funny. -

I guess they never updated the tooling...the '72-73 style (which the MPC kit represents) didn't have the V6 in 1:1, '71 was the last year for the V6. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeepster_Commando -

V8 IIRC...by 72-73 they weren't using the Buick V6 anymore...the '65 Chevelle wagon was out in the last 10 years in 'Superwagon' box art IIRC.. -
Why no Corvette C7 Z06 or Grand Sport model kit?
Rob Hall replied to AJM's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm not interested in the nostalgia factor or what baby boomers want--- I like kits of modern subjects (but also have a lot of kits of old subjects). It's frustrating that the older subjects dominate the US domestic kit market and push out the modern subjects. At some point, the baby boomers are going to retire, the US kit makers have no future unless they can make kits that will appeal to more people that aren't baby boomers....I'd like to see more balance of subjects between new and old. And I don't mean snap kits with cheesy box art targeting kiddies. I like what Round 2 has done with the 6th gen Camaro, but that's only one car and some variations. A step in the right direction. The Japanese kit companies seem to achieve a better balance of old and modern subjects---- differences in modeler demographics or interests between here vs the rest of the world? I don't know... -

LHD vs RHD has never been an issue to me, I do Japanese subjects as JDM usually.. -
The box art of the old Heller kits is fantastic...love their 917 box art. Never had any of them, though have the Porsche/Ferrari AMT boxed set.

Me too..and sometimes I like them both together..Christmas style as they call it in NM...

I assume Revell photographed and based their tooling on a modified Baja Bronco rather than one that was a 100% stock...

Ohio: famous as birthplace of many Presidents, aviation history, birthplace of several astronauts, having lots of colleges and universities, Ohio State football, Pro Football Hall of Fame, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame... I love the Lake Erie coastline and having a National Park a few miles from my house. (Cuyahoga Valley National Park).

Yeah, I'm still kind of skeptical, but there have been a lot of spy pics of disguised prototypes running around..

It will be interesting to see the race version of the mid-engined C8 in a couple years..supposedly the street version of the C8 is due in the next year or so..

Well, it is a race car that has competed in and won international events, so it has a broad audience, kind of different category than 1/25th scale models of US market street cars, though I'm still irritated that Revell is ignoring adult modelers that want modern full-detail subjects.. -

You miss the point....Revell does plenty of full detail models of old subjects, why not of modern subjects??? -

That's just a curbside snap kit...
