  1. because it's the same tired argument over and over again...wallowing in the past and saying everything was better then. It wasn't. Too many people look at the past w/ rose colored glasses and don't see how dreadful it was. I don't long for the world of 1980 from when I was a kid...I like living in the here and now.
  2. Because that is where people are, where my friends and family are. Facebook has it's negatives, but the positives out weigh the negatives. There is so much content of interest on Facebook--things that interest me from model car groups, diecast collecting groups, car groups, dog rescue groups, terrier enthusiast groups, etc...it's taken the place of Usenet news groups (80s-90s) and Yahoo groups (00s) for interests...
  3. I don't think I've ever seen those wheels on the white VRR. One year only? Never seen any on the '81+ M-bodies.
  4. Most 'old car enthusiasts', you mean..not all car enthusiasts are stuck in their father's or grandfather's era.....there are plenty of car enthusiasts that enjoy modern cars...
  5. Yes, I didn't mention Facebook, but there is definitely plenty of modeling content on there. I love my technology also....and definitely like living in the present and future...living in the past in a dead end...
  6. Here's a thread on the MPC '73.. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/112705-125-mpc-73-mustang/
  7. It seems there is a relatively small number of modelers my age (45) and under, and an even smaller number under 30, at least compared to the older crowd. It's all likely due to the typical childhoods--if you don't get hooked on cars and car-related hobbies at a young age, you likely won't get into models...I recall being the only one of my peers in school that was into models, most everyone else I knew was into gaming---I dabbled in them (arcades and Atari at home), but was into models from about age 6 on...though once I got my Commodore 64 I became hooked on computers and technology (made it my college and grad school major and profession). Generations after mine are even more into gaming and other electronic hobbies. Also, having a Baby Boomer older brother that built models helped.
  8. Yes, that was the MPC tool, but released with an AMT label. The weakest parts of the MPC tool are the engines and chassis...
  9. That's the AMT '73. Different tooling, builds only as a race car.
  10. I have no details. Just saw the MPC '73 listed as an upcoming release in another thread on the MCM forums. I assume it will be the same old same old with retro box art. Same old tooling.
  11. it was listed in one of the threads here a while back. It's been about 15 years since the MPC one was reissued
  12. Nothing so far indicates a 2n1, but we will see.
  13. Interesting they show it with the grille w the headlight covers closed. The car in the first movie had the headlight covers open, as did the Revell diecast.
  14. IIRC the MPC '71-73 is due to be reissued this year.
  15. I've never seen one in resin, but I assume the 1:1 switched from Ford lettering to the blue oval in '82 when the light duty F series did..
  16. Fascinating...I have a few of those from childhood--the yellow Porsche 911, the red Ferrari 308 and the stock Mercedes..I also built a couple of the Revell exotics from the same era-- their Ferrari 308 (molded in black) and Maserati Bora (molded in blue), but that's another story. I also enjoyed building the mid 80s to mid 90s Monogram Exotics..that would be a good thread of discussion also.
  17. The kit is a '79, and '80 was the last year of the removable rear roof. In '81 they restyled it along w/ the '81 pickups, and the '81-end RCs had a fixed, integrated rear roof... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dodge_Ramcharger
  18. The Monogram Land Rover and RoG Range Rover (same as Aoshima?) would both be great to see reissued...
  19. The open light Torino GT grille has a different design than the Torino Cobra grille.
  20. Missing Link used to make a resin '70 Torino GT convertible with an open headlight GT grille, but I don't recall if they offered the grille by itself.
  21. I wonder which F&F '70 Charger they will do...the original like their diecast version, or one of the later movie variations..
  22. The C7R will be nice...I'd love to see a model of the Corvette Daytona Prototype..
  23. Wouldn't surprise me if the Yenko Nova is a straight reissue...though IIRC it's been less than 5 years since it came out.
  24. A Ranchero would be nice. And I'd really like to see a Ranchero GT based on the '70 Torino GT.
  25. Hobby Link Japan. www.hlj.com is where I got mine.
