  1. I'm a NASCAR fan also, but I usually only watch the races, Speed Center and Wind Tunnel and ignore the hours of filler...esp. anything w/ Rutledge Wood....
  2. I wonder where Grand Am and ALMS coverage will be next year...I would assume the combined series from 2014 on will find a home. An all motorsports channel would be great....Speed used to be good, but too much reality TV show nonsense in recent years. And do they really need 20 hrs of talking heads per week for NASCAR?
  3. It was announced recently that NBC Sports is picking up F1 for 2013, same network that currently carries the Indy Car Series. Hosts for 2013 will be Hobbs, Matchett and Leigh Diffey (who does some Indy Car races now). Varsha is staying w/ Speed AFAIK. I enjoyed the race, the Austin track looks pretty well designed, with some elevation changes and plenty of curves...other recent Herman Tilke-designed tracks in Asia are so flat and dull. My favorite tracks, at least on TV, are the classic tracks like Spa, Monza, the Nurbergring, Monaco and Suzuka..
  4. Agreed... I keep all my photos backed up on an external hard drive and in the cloud (Carbonite), as well hosting some of them on Fotki or Facebook.
  5. I assume it was the existing R-M big scale '32 built to look like the RR...
  6. I think this was posted on here a few days ago...pretty neat, never seen a First Gear model in 1:25th, thought they were some odd size like 1:35th.
  7. Saw that...neat. I didn't know it was on, just sat down w/ some take out for dinner and turned on the TV and there it was...neat.. Never seen an episode of Gearz w/ his Rat Roaster. He showed the Revell kit, and had a large scale (1:8th?) one also on display. Was on at 6pm AZ time on Speed, don't know about other timezones.
  8. Maybe he meant 2 of the ones he was drinking on SportsCenter...a huge glass boot full of beer.
  9. Bad Brad's drunken interviews on SportsCenter and Wind Tunnel were fun to watch..
  10. Neat build...I wouldn't mind building a model of CSX 3141...it apparently had the sunburst wheels also, and had an automatic. I've never seen the car, but I've seen photos--a professor I had in college bought it new and had iit nto the 70s. I remember the CSX number because he mentioned a couple times that it was the 1st 4 digits of the number PI.
  11. Never seen the 'King Cobra' version... I have the original issue and the one from about 10 years ago (white car on the box). I wonder how the new issue differs..
  12. Interesting...never seen a diecast Excursion.
  13. Sharp build.
  14. That looks very nice....didn't realize First Gear did any 1:25th models, thought they only did them in a strange scale like 1:35th.
  15. Those '71 Daytonas are sweet....love the 1:1 '69 Daytona convertible phantom...I want to build that one in 1:25th..
  16. I may try and go Sunday. I will be in Gilbert all day Saturday for Desert Code Camp and Sunday have a couple races I want to watch..
  17. Well, with the new announcements from Round 2, Revell, and Moeibus just last month, I assume it will be a while (5-6 months) before we hear anything about the next round of releases from them....
  18. I remember my Grandfather on my Dad's side had a '66 Rambler Classic and later a '74 Ambassador...I saw and rode in those cars as a kid in the '70s. Way back before my time he had a '41 Packard 2dr, a '49 Packard and a '55 Packard, I've heard.
  19. Some of us do... my Caddy was in the $50k range when I bought it. With depreciation, though.... $50k is where typical loaded full size pickups and SUVs can get up to, or entry-lux cars like the BMW 3-series...lots of new cars in that range.. I see high end stuff in and around Scottsdale every day, not a big deal to see them.
  20. Probably should take this to a hunting forum..don't see the relevance to model cars.
  21. Sharp build.
  22. It is an interesting approach...the dealer franchising laws are rather obsolete, interesting to see a company challenging them..
  23. Boyer should have gotten a fine also, he started it.. I've been a Gordon fan quite a while, he was pretty much the first driver of my generation that hit it big in NASCAR. As far as Brad, he should use a hands-free set up for his cell phone when in the car... I can understand his wanting to catch up on his tweets and emails when stuck at the red..I do the same thing at long red lights.. Besides, he's 'Bad Brad', if the kid is going to stake his brand as a 'bad boy', he needs to accumulate some fines...good for the brand image.
