  1. I bought a lot of old diecast and occasionally models and promos at flea markets back in the '90s, I thought those died out long ago...eBay is the world's largest flea market in some ways..
  2. He had the '59 Dodge, I bought one from him w/ a resin interior. Don't know if they were left over X-El promos or newly produced, though. He had a '56 Plymouth also IIRC, but I never got one of those.
  3. I love those greens...so 'of the era'.. I learned to drive in a '79 Dodge Power Wagon 4x4 pickup in a silver green w/ matching green interior.. but oddly, I don't care for the obnoxious bright green Mopar used in '70-71 (Sub Lime?)
  4. Those are so cool..I plan to build a Superbird from the MPC '71 and a Daytona using the AMT '71 Charger.
  5. Very cool..this gives me ideas of what to do w/ my unbuilt '77 or '79 kits.
  6. Sweet..love those '70s IMSA race cars..
  7. Neat phantom...speaking of Challenger wagons, there are pics that have been floating around the interwebs for years of a purple 1:1 custom that part of an Olds Vista Cruiser roof, looks pretty cool IMO..
  8. They probably took a vow of omerta and took their Johan secrets to the grave.
  9. I was behind a very clean pale yellow '68-72 Ranger XLT shortbed fleetside this morning..had the woodgrain trim on the tailgate. It had side marker lights, but I didn't see the front end so I'm not sure what year it was.
  10. Wow..never seen that color before. Neat. One color I liked back the day that seemed pretty rare was a dark green that was available on the '85 or '86 LXes.
  11. The old AMT kit (from around '88-90) was backdated from the MPC '81 tooling, IIRC. It had a rather innacurate nose. The new-tool AMT kit from the late '90s is quite nice, has been released in Z-28 and Baldwin Motion 454 versions, reissued a few times. I like the more recent AMT kit....I also like the original early '70s issue AMT and MPC 2nd gen Camaro kits, but those are fairly rare these days.
  12. Neat..don't think I've ever seen that kit. I did build the Revell '82 Firebird S/E kit as a kid, was molded in a dark brick red. Probably a similar kit to this. I like the MPC (later AMT) '82-92 kits, and also have the AMT '82 that was reissued in the last decade.
  13. Hmm...the Lightning has just been reissued..the Expedition is being reissued next year. Seems like a fun kitbash.
  14. It's enthusiasts (performance and luxury) that prefer RWD....maybe 2-5% of consumers. The general public has no comprehension or interest in the mechanical aspects or driving characteristics of cars...hence the huge number of FWD 4cyl automatic sedans and CUVs sold. There are a few interesting FWD models out there like the GTI and Focus ST, but most are just appliances, IMO. As far as hybrids and electric cars go, they are efficient appliances and the high-tech nature appeals to some consumers, and they definitely want them to look distinctive, because otherwise, people would think you had a regular car.
  15. Very cool build. A question about this style cab, what are the doors on each side of the front body above the headlights for?
  16. Nice to see it's molded in white this time. I'm thinking one of these would look good w/ a set of 19 inch Pegasus IROKs...
  17. What's wrong w/ the newer-tool AMT one? A '68-72 Chevelle based off the '72 Cutlass chassis would be nice...
  18. No biggie for me w/ the hardtop, I have a few parts AMT '62s I can source one from. And I figure the 2nd issue will have them. Alas, I went to my LHS and they had only 2 left, both of which had been reserved. I should have preordered one...oh well, wait until next month when the OLDs get them...
  19. It can be addicting...I've been on eBay for over 15 years, it's been my primary source for old kits, old diecast, random electronics, resin parts, resin kits, etc. Only had a couple transactions (out of over 1000) go sideways but they got resolved. Never sold anything, only bought. And with PayPal, it's so easy...just a few clicks. Glad they got rid of money order only sellers...that was a real pain in the butt back in the day. Biggest annoyance are their frequent site redesigns..
  20. They don't have decals for the whitewalls..that alone makes them worth getting IMO, not a fan of decal whitewalls.
  21. Read what you quoted... as Casey said, the recent Revell Challenger is ' 1/25 scale '70 T/A and/or R/T, which was based on the 1/25 Revell die-cast model. '
  22. Yeah, not my thing...kind of one of those 'you had to be there' things, like the fashion of that era. I do like Mopars of that era w/ regular vinyl tops, which they seemed to have a lot of.. I wouldn't mind doing a Cuda in a period color scheme w/ a regular vinyl top.
  23. Drastic Plastics has a Fotki album of pics of MH parts..there are a few others also. Googling on 'Modelhaus pictures' turns up a bunch of images of builtups and parts. http://public.fotki....urce/modelhaus/
  24. WeatherTech mats are great...I put a set of them in my Grand Cherokee (and a WT cargo mat) when I bought it back in '00. I haven't put any in my STS yet...still have my factory carpeted mats...but I will get WeatherTechs when I move to a climate w/ more precipitation.
  25. True, but the thread is about coupes...the 'notchback' body style. The '67/68 were never kitted in 1:25th.
