  1. I didn't notice it was different until someone pointed it out...I guess new side trim and badging for the 150, maybe new interior parts to do a Bel Air? Interesting...
  2. That will be easy enough to make with this kit plus an AMT '70 Monte Carlo for the roof and some bodywork.
  3. Add in the G8 GXP and '10 Shelby GT500... same thought---where are the new cars??? Though I'm definitely looking forward to the Impala and Olds. Though I have the AMT '66 Impala already, and can get the Olds in resin.
  4. Looks good...the optional wheels look boring, though. I've got ideas for 2-3 of these, 1 stock and a couple SEMA show style builds..
  5. A lot of '80s Fords had the fuel door on the right rear quarter...haven't noticed where the newer ones have it. One unusual detail the '80s Fords I've had all seemed to have the fuel door release in the glovebox. My '00 Jeep oddly doesn't have a locking fuel door..
  6. IIRC, my Jeep is the first car I've had with the gas door on the left..all the Fords (and the one BMW) I owned previously had it on the right. But the last year I've driven an older Mercedes quite a bit w/ the door on the right, so I've found myself pulling in on the wrong side with it when filling it up after driving the Jeep. I always find myself looking at the gas gauge for an arrow to see which side it's on when I'm traveling and have a rental car. The funniest thing, though, was the first week or so after I bought the Jeep back in '00 was the phantom clutching...since I had driven cars and SUVs with sticks pretty much exclusively the previous 14 years!
  7. I believe AAM did one in resin, along with a crew cab...probably 15 years ago. Monogram did a SuperCab, but that was an F250 and F350 of the '87-91 style.
  8. Really? I couldn't imagine a Chevy engine in a Mustang. As for my '87, it's got the stock 5.0. Plenty enough power for the occasional weekend drive.
  9. I'm patient enough to wait until I get it home..don't want to drop any tiny parts in the car... Though most commonly, new models appear at my house in brown boxes from a brown van (UPS) that usually shows up at around 6:30 pm.
  10. That sounds like the same car that was in another magazine a few months ago, Muscle Car Review or Hemmings Muscle Machines, IIRC. Fascinating stuff.
  11. I just hope Chrysler survives and thrives once again. I've been very happy w/ my '00 Grand Cherokee, and based on the pics I've seen from the New York Auto Show, I think I'll really like the '11 Grand Cherokee (4th gen).
  12. Was a fun show...I went for about an hour, saw some builtups I recognized from the magazines (Hollywood Jim's incredible dioramas, to name one)...there was lots of talented modelers' work on display. I picked up a couple restorable oldies from the swap meet--AMT '60 Buicks, a ht and a convertible.
  13. That Aston sedan is going to be goregous, I think. My favorite expensive luxury sedans are the Merc CLS and Maserati Quattroporte. My favorite current Porsches are the Boxster and Cayman, esp. in 'S' form.
  14. My '00 Grand Cherokee has the back of the engine partially under the cowl...about the only thing I've done myself is check the fluids.
  15. Cool..I have the AMT promo and it's very nice. I want to do an R/T in white and an SRT8 in silver from the AMT kits...not sure how I will do the Revell versions, one stock, and I'd like to do some similar to the SEMA show cars...maybe a phantom convertible and one with a Viper drivetrain.
  16. My Jeep kind of has a cab forward design..the back of the straight 6 is under the cowl, reaching the rear most plug is probably a pain.
  17. Would love to go this year, but I will be in Denver next weekend. Best friend's 40th birthday party/cookout, can't miss that.
  18. Yeah, I'm amazed at the difference in maintenance of my '00 Jeep Grand Cherokee as compared to older cars ('87 Mustang GT, '88 Bronco II) that I've owned in the past... my Jeep has almost 100k miles now, and still has the original exhaust!
  19. True 'nuff... other than checking the fluids occasionally between service intervals, there is nothing I do under the hood. I took my Jeep to the dealer the first few years, and have found good independent shops to do the dirty work at the service intervals in recent years...
  20. I believe the main reason is sound deadening...isolate engine noise. Esp. on luxury cars.
  21. This reminds me of an AMT bumper sticker I had years ago...said something like 'I LOVE (heart logo) Model Cars'. Had it on my '86 Mustang LX up till it was totalled. It was vinyl and weather proof, IIRC.
  22. Went to the Desert Scale Classic show & swap meet earlier (great show) and picked up a couple neat restorable oldies---the AMT '60 Buick Invicta ht and convertible.
  23. Yes, the AMT kits are unassembled promos. The Revell kit (supposedly due in June) is going to be a full detail SRT8.
  24. Looking forward to them. I assume the major parts (body, interior, chassis, chrome, etc) will be the same as the promo I got last year. Besides decals, I assume the only difference between the R/T and SRT8 are the wheels (since they are curbsides).
