Everything is painted, and final assembly has begun For those of you that may not have noticed, I'm using the V8-60 engine from the Revell midget kit, with the rare Ardun heads I made from scratch. There really was an ardun conversion made for the V8-60(recently seen in the AMBR winning t roadster from a couple years ago.) Compare the 60 to the full size flathead block in the pic.

I always enjoy watching your Amnesty builds. My friend Randy are trying something similar. I have picked one of his builds and told him to finish it by our Spring club meeting, and he is going to pick one of mine, so I need to finish it by then as well. I'm looking forward to it because it shows that someone else thinks your project is worth finishing, so it gives you motivation -

Thank you so much Bernard, for taking the time to critique these kits. The FED's have really been tripping my trigger lately, and I have accumulated some of these kits, but not really knowing their high and low points. These posts are much appreciated.

Thanks for the encouragement Erik. I've tried my hand at resin casting before with very limited success. And that was flat casting, this would require a two part mold. I build for my own enjoyment. If others like what I do, cool. So, if there is little interest in this I'm not disappointed. I visit several forums and kept hearing "how come Revell didn't include fenders?" or "I wish I had some", so I gave it a try.

I made this fender set up over the weekend. It's designed to be a drop on part for the new Revell 29 A roadster. I spliced together 2 sets of AMT fenders to match the slightly longer length of the new Revell frame. I also added the molding that goes all the way around the fenders (seen here in white) that was very faint/non-existant on the AMT fenders. I integrated the floorpan from the new Revell kit, and the Model A frame kits very well. This should allow the builder to substitute it instead of the floorpan, but use all of the suspension and driveline parts without modification. As far as the body goes, I could modify the wheelwell openings to stock so they would fit the fenders, or the builder could section the bottom of the body and use the chanelled interior pieces. I have done more modifications and cleanup since this picture was taken, with a little bit left to do. Is there much interest in this? If not I will just use it myself, but I wanted to gauge interest before I started modifying it to my own tastes.

You can make your own punch by filing a sharp edge on a piece of brass tubing. -

I usually only have one project on the bench at a time. However, I have tons of started projects. And most of them remain unfinished for no particular reason. What I've realized lately is that I enjoy the instant gratification of the mock-up stages. And once it gets to the point where I'm making all the small details work or getting ready for paint I get bored and then something shiny distracts me into starting something new. I have so many projects that could probably be finished pretty quickly, if I would just get back to them. But since I don't build box stock, the hard part is remembering how that project goes together. When you've got a project in your hands and your constantly assembling and disassembling you remember how that need to go here and you have to angle this way to get everything to fit. Once I'm away from it for awhile it never seems go back together like it used to. Does this happen to anyone else? -

That segment was bad, but the rest of the shows have been pretty good. I agree that the segments could be longer, but the subsequent episodes I have watched after the first seem to have gotten better. I particularly liked when he drove the 1915 car up the 1915 highway. -

I'll surely be watching. I think that Revell lengthened the frame in the engine area to accommodate a V8 more easily. But I could be wrong -
Got some more work done on this over the weekend. Got the removable flat tow bar put in place. Also got the radius arms and friction shocks mounted (shocks not pictured) Also got the rear suspension finalized. Homemade radius rods and friction shocks from the Roth Outlaw And here is the homemade windshield. It wont be sitting at quite such a radical rake as pictured, but will be raked. Also made a bunch of "fiddly bits" like the steering column, hand brake and such. Just a few items left on a short punch list and then it's time to start painting
