  1. Okay that makes sense. Are the other 2 versions just different trim levels or is there going to be a "customized" version? If you can't tell me, just use two thumbs up for yes and two thumbs down for no. ?
  2. So according to a video in the "The Rumour Mill" thread, they have 3 versions of this kit planned so far. Now I'm not sure if they count a 4-door model as a version of this kit (since there would need to be changes to the body and chassis, amongst other things), but if this is one, then I would say the other 2 are a 4-door version (maybe the Sasquatch trim) and then a Bronco Raptor after that.
  3. Bit of a bump, but does anyone know what size inline-6 the kit engine represents in the 1970 short box kit?
  4. Yeah it’s too bad they are gone, they sold a lot of nice tires from what I have seen. I’ve gotten a few over the years as well as a few actual Aoshima sets, but I could always use more of the off road tires!
  5. Honestly I think a modern van would sell better, especially if it allowed you to build both passenger and cargo versions. They could just have inserts for the windows for the cargo version, sort of similar to how the real vans are done. Something like the current Transit or Sprinter.
  6. I would really love to see a 1/16 scale version of the Amphicar, it's such an iconic car and would be fun to build in a slightly larger scale.
  7. Yeah I do agree that they were odd in their own ways, though I am glad they made them anyways since no one else makes these specific vehicles (in glue form). Edit: Here is the brochure for the Bronco if anyone would like to start planning out your builds early! https://www.xr793.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/10/2021-Ford-Bronco-V2.pdf
  8. I’m looking forward to see what Olson Brothers will make for this kit!
  9. I think most (car builders) haven’t heard of Meng until the F350 was announced, and so didn’t know their track record (me included). Based on what other companies do, it was a reasonable assumption they would modify the tooling for a new variation. Regardless, my thoughts are that Meng tried to go too detailed with their CV line, and thus turned off many buyers both by parts count, and price. They honestly made Tamiya look like a snap kit in terms of parts count. I feel that they could have scaled back the parts count, simplified a few assemblies, and lowered the price point. I will say however that I don’t know whether a predetermined length of time to sell the kit was imposed, or if it was sales as mentioned, that made for such short sales times. In any case, if R2 goes for an Aoshima level kit at an AMT price point, then I will totally get a few!
  10. Yeah I am still surprised that the newest model truck kit that isn't a snap kit is the Meng F350. I wish Revell would at least just take their Raptor kits and give them a more detailed chassis for the glue builders. I feel like for this Bronco, if they could have it be curbside but well detailed like the Meng Jeep kit, then I would think they would sell (assuming a more reasonable price tag).
  11. So I could for sure see a Hellcat widebody version. Wonder if they would also do a Scat Pack model, since that would only require minor changes from the R/T model (the 392 and 5.7 don't differ much in scale other than the intake and valve covers). I just hope they offer a couple different factory stripe options on the decal sheet and maybe a second set of wheels.
  12. Haha I mean they obviously wouldn't have all those wires and hoses, but it would have been cool to have either engine available to swap into other builds.
  13. Well if the new step side has that grille and bumper combo in the prototype pic, then you could swap one or the other with the Deserter kit to have both correct versions.
  14. Hopefully this means that a Wrangler JL or Gladiator will be coming up next!
  15. Posted by @Hawk312 in the main Round 2 thread. Appears to represent a recent Dodge Charger R/T (based on wheel style, front fascia, and 5.7 engine), and can represent versions from 2020-present (earlier versions would need some tweaking, and the wheels would need changing)
  16. For those that haven't yet seen this in the Round 2 thread in the car news section, they are making a new Bronco! It has been mentioned that it is only a curbside kit, but the hood is a separate piece for future editions or for the builder to add their own engine. I mentioned it there, but hopefully since they didn't tool the engine, that they took some time to make some nice optional parts.
  17. I will say while it would have been cool to have the underhood detail on the Bronco right from AMT, being a curbside is not a bad thing assuming they put the effort into making the chassis have a good amount of detail. If you look at several of the 4x4 kits that Aoshima made over the years, they are all curbside, but they have excellently detailed chassis' and nicely detailed bodies and interiors. With it being mentioned that the hood is a separate piece (unlike Aoshima in this instance), this means that a builder adding their own engine and underhood detail is still possible. I am also hopefull that since they didn't spend the time working on the underhood parts, they instead added some nice exterior options.
  18. I wonder if it had anything to do with the drag version of the Jimmy considering the weird riveting look they have going around the edges.
  19. I have a set of these from the Lindberg F150 kit, but what are the real wheels called?
  20. Thanks! Right now I'm using a dremel for the heavy material removal, but it is a bit hard to control at times!
  21. Nice looking build! Do you have a name or link for that file you were using in the pic of your first post?
  22. Such is life now with the large size of the box and with fuel prices increasing. I'm glad I got most of my larger scale kits back when shipping wasn't so crazy!
  23. Haha sorry, I should have specified more. I do know that this was originally released back when the car was new, though I forgot that the 1/16 '79/'80 kits were MPC and not Monogram. I guess I'm more wondering why create a 1/8 kit at all in the first place since the large size is very display unfriendly for most people. I will say though that I am only 33, and so I didn't grow up with the much larger market of new release kits like back in the day, and so I suppose the popularity of kits in general meant that they were more inclined to explore larger sizes without having to worry about cost as much.
