  1. I feel the same way, find the right wheels, but can't find the right tires! It seems like for me for 4x4 tires, they are either too small or too large (or just the ugly Goodyear Tracker A-Ts that are found in every Revell/Monogram 4x4 kit) and so I get to go buy yet another aftermarket set...granted this isn't entirely bad since I generally prefer aftermarket tires anyways!
  2. How about locating pins in general? Obviously they can't do much about older kits, but newer kits still seem to have issues with some mounting points not being clear enough. A big one also seems to be body parts/bumpers/mirrors where you know the general spot, but you basically have to make your own locating pieces to get the parts to sit right.
  3. This has been my thoughts as well, there have been several newer subjects that would be huge sellers, yet no one wants to kit them. Current gen Mustang (until now), current Ecoboost F150, Challenger Hellcat, C8 Corvette (yes it just came out, but no peeps yet about a kit), Ram Cummins (or really any truck within the past decade), Focus RS, and so on. I’m excited for this kit since I love Tamiya kits and it’s of a subject that I’ve not seen yet.
  4. If it's paint code EG, then Duplicolor has it in their Perfect Match spray line, BFM0317. You can get it from most auto parts stores, either in store or they can order it in for you.
  5. No updates currently, been working on a couple other kits but hoping to get back on this sometime this month!
  6. Beautiful build! It looks much better with the slight lowering you did. Revell did well with the detail in the parts, however I agree that the detail and features are lacking for a large scale kit that cost as much as this did. I really wish they would have gone the extra bit and included working steering and opening doors/trunk, even if it added $20 to the price.
  7. Here's another site that I like to use with lots of brochures both new and old.
  8. So I've been seeing stuff about this brought on Facebook again recently, are they now getting rid of Model Master paints or is it just BS again? Edit: after reading around a bit, I find nothing concrete and figure it's probably just residuals from last fall.
  9. The one I found hasn't been updated since 2012, and I'm sure many have come and gone since then. Thanks Hugh!
  10. Hi everyone, I've been thinking about doing this for a while and finally decided to get it started. I see a lot of threads asking about hobby stores in certain areas and I thought it would be nice to have a list that shows all the hobby shops in one spot. I've started a Google spreadsheet where I will sort by country, then state/province, and provide the address, phone, and store hours (according to Google). I would like your help in filling it in! You can provide me with all the info if you'd like, or simply just a name, city, and state (or country, province) and I can find the rest. I would like to keep out craft places like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and the like, and focus on solely hobby stores (I will allow chains like Hobbytown USA though). Hobby Store Master List
  11. Can't believe it's been almost two years since this kit was released! I finally decided to pick up the F100 4x4 kit for myself and am looking to get the F250 conversion when Joseph starts taking orders for it again. May I say WOW to the instructions for this kit, they blow most of the ones I've seen out of the water!
  12. Minor update: Starting to add parts to the chassis, and I got the wheels and tires from Scenes Unlimited.
  13. It's cool seeing the cars in actual pictures, rather than just on the back cover of the book. He wrote the Dirk Pitt adventure series first, and then branched off into a few other series. They are great books, though like a James Bond movie, they do tend to follow the same general formula.
  14. Oh yeah, I know that back then they had limitations, I’m talking more about in more recent decades.
  15. It's not a bad theory, and does make sense. I just feel that it wouldn't be much different in making a wheel face vs an entire wheel, since it would be the same (or a bit less rather) amount of plastic, and not any more effort to make it the width of the tire. If they use the same style of it sliding in like Tamiya or Aoshima, then all the tire interiors could be the same shape vs the stepped design they use with the 2-piece wheels. Sure you would have to use slightly more plastic if you want more than one set of wheels, but at least when you want to use those extra wheels in the future, you aren't hunting for more wheel backs in order to use them.
  16. So looking on ebay for model wheels and tires got me thinking, why (at least for new kits) do the US companies continue to use 2 piece wheels? I know that Revell has started offering 1 piece wheels in some of their more recent kits, but I wonder why for the past couple decades the majority of kits used the 2-piece wheel design (front spoke half and rear mounting half)? I'm guessing it was originally due to tooling limitations, and perhaps how they liked attaching the wheels, but now that many non-US companies use 1-piece wheels, it seems like that would have become the standard. I hate when the wheel backs show through the spokes and show that there are no brakes, at least for disc brakes. I do appreciate the kits where they have 2-piece wheels that form into 1 wheel where you can still see through them. I guess maybe I got spoiled with the Japanese kits and aftermarket wheels where the wheels just slide into the tires and there's no frantic searching for wheel backs that fit both the tire ID, as well as the correct thickness (unless they can be shortened properly to fit).
  17. Whatever you want it to be. Black would be the “standard” color I suppose, but I’m sure you could spec whatever color you wanted.
  18. Good to finally see a stock TJ kit!
  19. I had to go find the monster truck instructions to refresh my memory, but yeah it appears they modified the stock chassis for the monster truck kit. However, they must have used the same molds for the stock longbed and shortbed/stepside kits, with an insert to make the longbed chassis, in order to not be able to re-release the shortbed or stepside versions, which is a real shame. They really need to spend some dollars to bring back the stock tooling since I know the stock kits would be very popular if they were brought back out.
  20. I just want them to bring the regular pickup kits back out again, rather than continually reissuing the monster truck version. Plus the fact that it's yet another Coca Cola branded kit.
