  1. Good selection here but you'll have to edit your own number in if needed. Here you can customize the plates.
  2. Box up on one leg too! Weathering is superb!
  3. Yeah, boring BMW is pretty sad, but it was an SUV afterall. Then, my previous car was a Mini Countryman SUV .. and that was a total blast driving! Flynn is VW, Audi and BMW. Haddad is Toyota among others. They bought out Pete's Subaru (and Chrysler/Plymouth).
  4. I'm almost embarrassed because I like it!
  5. This is the top GTI, the Autobahn, and it only comes with 4-doors ... weird, eh? I wanted four anyway. The only real difference from lower ones is it has Navigation, another need. The GTI plaid seats only come in the lowest version.
  6. You just need something to light your fire and HAVE to build ... what vehicles do you have sitting out in your yard? Building one you own can get your juices flowing?
  7. Think I forgot this here ... used already ...
  8. Welcome to the forum. If the glue in on a textured side of the headlights, your out of luck removing the glue traces. If the plastic is smooth you can polish it out with fine sandpaper, like that used to polish paint ... up to 12,000 grid.
  9. it's definitely on it's last leg !
  10. Cabrio should be the turquoise one
  11. I've been agonizing over needing a car to get up my steep driveway in the snow and have had two 4wd vehicles in the past three years ... a Mini Countryman, that was a blast to drive but needed a hour and half drive for service .. and a BMW X1 that was competent but a total bore driving. Every trip to the BMW dealer saw me lingering around the VW GTI's. I just wasn't sure one would get up my drive with only FWD. Only the Golf R had 4WD and dealers are allowed only one! After taking a GTI on a test drive ... up my snow covered drive on summer tires ... I was sold! It's now sitting on Blizzaks! ... I'm happy and back tocars that are fun to drive!!!! Now I NEED one in PLASTIC!!!
  12. I don't like building large scale kits myself, mostly because I want my builds to look natural next to each other on the shelf. Heller does make a 1/24 Traction Avant .. the 15 CV. It is a very nice kit and even has an engine! I started it but have no wip started. This one will fit on my shelf!
  13. The body is sitting next to the paint booth in flat black as I type. Gloss black has been a fail with me so many times I decided to try clear coating some flat black. I have had great success with Testor's Wet Look Clear. I see it sitting there every time I go down to the workshop so it IS talking to me. So many close to finished builds clamoring for my attention!
  14. There are some incredible looking engines here .. MANY of them! I thought I must have put up the Porsche 944 engine in my avatar but seems not. So here's my best to date and converted from a turbo to a normally aspirated that resided in my 1:1.
  15. she's coming along beautifully, Geoff. I never thought any Trabant was capable of receiving such love!
  16. I'm sure not getting bored with this ... it's actually going much faster than anything on my bench! ... and it just keeps looking better and better.
  17. That's a great looking build! I'd be interested too in what the paint is ... I've been looking for a maroon color to what yours looks like.
  18. This does sound like a copied version of Bondic. Probably should expect less. here's a thread I started things I've tried using Bondic ... look also at the thread I referenced it the start for more info if you're interested.
  19. I too agree that spray cans is the way to do your first cars. I started building cars in 1958 and I still use cans as much as I can, but that's me cause I hate cleaning my airbrushes. You'll need a Hobby or Craft store like Hobby Lobby or Michael's to find hobby sprays. Many use Duplicolor auto paints and some get as good a finish with sprays as with an airbrush, I'm not one of them by any means. Learn about the advantages of both before spending a lot of cash. There is a lot of good talk about first airbrushes here. Use Google to search for old threads .. paste this into Google ... site:modelcarsmag.com first airbrush
  20. I have a 2nd new Mini Countryman I want to do on a similar vein to what you have here. I really like the look you have and the top chop is just right!
  21. hahah ... yeah, mine like to donate chipmunks in the house.
  22. Our car seems amazingly respectable of my workbench in the basement. He goes down when I go but it there alone too. I've never seen him up on the bench and never lost a part that I could attribute to him swiping it off the table. I know there are things I don't see, but it feels safe at least leaving everything out. Outside, though, he picks EVERYTHING up!
