  1. Phase two has begun. I think. Maybe...
  2. Just in case anyone was curious, the mag that contained the 2-hole Budd comparison is SAE #99 (October '95).
  3. As of today, this horse may well be back in the race,,,,
  4. Nope, it still looks pretty much like that, only with a fine layer of dust on it. Still up in the air on doing it as a tractor or a wrecker. Oh, and it's been a while- gotta pester Dave once more about that D-Series and Travelall... To repeat Robert's statement... my Paypal is ready when you are.
  5. Frank- have you thought of doing the VW/Porsche Fuchs wheel in a large diameter, something like an 18" or even a 20"?
  6. In my case, the warm temps brought nothing but borderline Monsoon rains. On the plus side, though, there was a killer thunderstorm yesterday!
  7. I've seen that one, and I'd love to know who built it as well. One of these days I'm going to blatantly rip off the idea- and power it with a VW Pancake 8.
  8. Keeping it in a temperature controlled area and out of direct sunlight are good ideas- and probably should be no-brainers anyway. I've had a few sheets I've left in my upstairs storage room which is subject to extreme temperature changes, and that will kill the adhesive in pretty short order. I keep mine in a shallow compartment in a desk drawer where it is not likely to become kinked or bent. With the obvious stuff out of the way, I've used properly stored sheets of BMF which were three years old or more without any problems.
  9. I swear by Plowboy's discovery... LA Totally Awesome. Strips the chrome AND the clear undercoat in less than a day 90% of the time, some of the Round 2 kits take a little bit longer. I keep it as close to or above room temp as possible in a sealed imitation Tupperware-type container. In the summer I'll take it out on the porch and let it sit in the sun- that REALLY speeds up the reaction.
  10. Thanks! Since the Revell body is downsized to the T-Bird/Cougar proportions I had no illusions about building this stock, only quasi-stock. Kind of thinking of stuffing the supercharged 5.4 from a '10 Shelby in there.... yeah, that idea keep sounding better and better the more I think of it.
  11. Anybody remember the Mark VII? No? Well... here's a refresher! I used the wheels and tires from the Revell '50 Ford F-1, and the rotor/caliper castings are from an old XS Tuning wheel/tire set. The car will sit a bit higher than this- the body is resting on the tops of the tires (and the large strip of plastic in back) in this photo.
  12. So did the original 1960's Mustang- it's styling was more or less ripped off from European GT cues... long hood, short deck, 'blade' bumpers, etc.. It worked then, I don't see why it won't work now. (PS- Harry- this should be my 10,000th post, so I figured I'd at least try to put it to some use. )
  13. Yeah- fell asleep at the switch ID-ing it. But still, that's the one I'm going to build!
  14. Love stuff like this! Imagine the outcry if you did this in 1:1.
  15. According to an old Light Commercial column, Monogram came very close to kiting one in the late '80's.
  16. I do hope Ford ditches the whole 'retro' thing they have going with the Mustang. Not that the current cars are unattractive or anything, but I'd rather see the Mustang lead the styling of Ford's line, not be a reflection of what it was 50 years ago.
  17. Nice! is this the same Josh Mills who built the '35 Ford custom featured in the January '11 R&C?
  18. Absolutely right... but everybody remembers the second-gen cars with the stickers, spats, and T-tops. Just like people are more likely to associate the car from Smokey and The Bandit with the black t-top 'screaming chicken' car rather than the white and Lucerne Blue-striped original when they hear the name 'Trans Am'.
  19. Aw, come on! You couldn't let it ride for five or six pages before revealing it was all just a joke?
