  1. Luke, Drew, and to a somewhat lesser extent Junkman, I can, if not agree with each of you, at least see your side. Still, wouldn't a '57 Bonneville or Olds...heck, even a Buick have been a bit more interesting than the Black Widow/150 kit? I'm glad this kit is out there for those who want it, but I'd like '50's GM cars BESIDES Chevys being kitted!
  2. Sure have... First- my gripes... The engine detail is BEYOND subpar- if that's your thing, I'd use an AMT or Revell kit Pontiac V8 engine- or an AMT parts pack 421, like I did in this one. Some cutting and trimming to the frame will be needed to pull it off, but if you don't like the Lego-blocklike Trumpeter engine, it's the way to go. The hood needs to be filed down along the edges quite a bit to fit in it's opening- the photoeched hinges are quite brittle, as well. The kit comes with two sets of tires- both whitewalls, and both incorrect- they're radials, not the bias belts the 1:1 car came equipped with. Finally, some parts that should be chromed (mirror, door handles, and dash trim) aren't, but the exhaust is on the chrome sprue! Aside from these issues, I really liked the kit. It built up pretty well, and looks every bit like a '60 Bonnie. The scripts are very faint- I know it's more 'in scale' but be careful not to clog it up with paint on yours. There are lots of possibilities with this one!
  3. Zeus drove an Anglia gasser. Probably a lot like this one! As usual, I like it, John!
  4. I live for sweet IH trucks. Never seen one done as a logger. Nice!
  5. Lyle... loincloths and speedos are also acceptable!
  6. I second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth that motion! If Top Gear makes your brain mushy, Motor City Motors will make you want to put a bullet in it.
  7. Mental note- do not go to northern New England!
  8. Well, the pictures are good enough for me to see that I like it!
  9. Lots of pictures, so I'll just use a link: http://public.fotki.com/ChuckMost/the-ballad-of-scary/scary-jerrys-mobile/ Jerry figured that the fresh fish and bait biz was a summer-only gig, and besides, he thought spending all day out in the sun drinking beer wasn't too good for his health! With winter on the way, what better business to get into than the firewood/lumber business?
  10. Another nice one, John! And not too much of a stretch, as the 1:1 Deora was based on an A-100 pickup!
  11. I love seeing old kits built up, and not squirreled away in dark closets! The fact she's an ol' Ford just makes it that much sweeter!
  12. Shame... this would be a great home for a Ford 2.3 Turbo Four...
  13. Looks a little "Deal's Wheel-ish" with the body cut up like that- should be interesting!
  14. That seems a HUGE oversight! Uh oh.... I think Revell's just stumbled on the latest 'hit' off the 150 Black Widow tool...
  15. Nice! I've wanted to take a crack at this one for a while, but havent' so far!
  16. I don't get the whole mentality of guys who collect unbuilt kits- hey, I have no problem with it, just sayin' I don't get it! That model's sole purpose in life is to be built... how would YOU feel if somebody willfully deprived you of attaining your purpose in life? I love seeing these rare old kits built up, ESPECIALLY when done this well, and it's a car I love... and I do love the '62 Merc!
  17. Right now? Still soaking in the DDT saturated Pine River!
  18. Mixing the different chromes CAN certainly look good- If (like, say, Jeff Sauber) you know what you're doing. It seems some guys don't, but mix different chrome methods anyway. I'm still going to give Alclad a shot one o' these days, and might even try out Spaz Stix, but if I can't get it all to look cohesive- I'm picking one method and sticking with it!
  19. I agree with the first part, some alternatives are more realistic. And I wholeheartedly agree with your second point- I've seen many models with a mish-mash of kit chrome, Alclad, and BMF- there IS a difference in the appearance of the three finishes, and mixing the three often has disastrous results from an appearance standpoint!
  20. I've noticed that too- bumpers, large trim pieces, and the like are best just being vacuum plated. I've never seen SpazStix applied, but I've seen plenty of Alclad, and it's kind of like BMF- most convincing when used in moderation!
  21. They unmasked The Stig last night! Yeah, it was the guy everybody thought it was...
  22. I'm of the "if it's right enough I'm okay with it" school of thought. Sure looks like a '66 Imp to me!
  23. Consider this one added to my "Will buy 20 of 'em" list! Still think I'll wait for the cardboard box edition, though!
  24. Been a while since I've seen a really sweet full fendered A Roadster! Very well done, my man! (Like yours too, Philo!)
  25. I'm always open to suggestions...
