  1. Jim makes a great point. If the info submitted is in error, should he correct it? What if he is in error? The info in the magazine can be only as good as what's submitted. I'm more than happy to look over the occasional errors for the inspiration each new issue brings. Since I used to get about four magazines a month I'm thrilled to get MCM with what looks like a fairly regular schedule.
  2. One of the things I hate about this kit is the chassis. It claims to be a gasser but gasser rules NEVER allowed a round tube chassis.
  3. Since I just bought one......the MPC Mako Shark.
  4. I opened the topic and scrolled straight through the photos of the car in the museum to get to the model pics. Had to scroll back.....VERY nice.
  5. This is becoming a textbook on building this old Merit/Smer kit. This is a tremendous build.
  6. If you're on FB there's a couple of Kentucky groups there. Message me for info.
  7. If you're shopping try Auto Models in Greensburg or there's a place in Cranberry. Be prepared fpr sensory overload.
  8. I appreciate the comments. Previously I tried aluminum with CA. Didn’t work at all. The idea of drilling holes in it with slow set epoxy may be winning combination.
  9. I need to add some small diameter square brass tube or aluminum to the inside of a body for structural support. I'm looking for the strongest joint possible. I'm thinking either epoxy or medium CA. Any thoughts and recommendations? THANKS!
  10. I checked in again just to be amazed. The A arms are stunning. The carbs....breathtaking. If I remember you're using a Sherline. I'd love to see more pictures of your set ups to help me learn about my set up. You've already shown me the possibilities.
  11. The wood and the ornaments (urns?) on top are amazing. This is definitely a different take on this kit.
  12. If anyone wants a CB Freak, pm me.....we can work out a deal. With that commercial out of the way....COSMA RAY!!!!
  13. This can be a stunning kit but does take skill. This kit was designed in the mid 1960's. If you're truly a complete beginner, I'd suggest a more modern tooling. I would suggest looking at Revell as AMT and others have both fairly new tooling and reissued tooling. Some of the reissued tooling have fit problems.
  14. Every time I look at this, I want to find a Hornet to do a follow along build with. Looking great!
  15. A question.....how did you make the decals. Another outstanding build! Very nice.
  16. What a great build......love to see it reissued.
  17. Thanks John......
  18. I've seen pictures of this car several times. Every time I see it I say no way in the world would I drive that.
  19. I've started to consider adding a Cricut to my tool collection (thanks John!). When looking at them on line, there's seems to be as many variations as Revell Camaros. Are there any models to look for or avoid? More than likely I'll be looking for a used one. I'd like to use it for cutting paint masks as well as thin plastic. I'd love it to cut aluminum, but doubt that's practical. I've also considered a cheap laser engraver but I'm not sure how that would do cutting the paint masks.
  20. The race car hauler was out three or four years ago.....be nice if the funny car was included. As for the whole of the kit releases.....more money for Atlantis!
  21. Can you share a link....there's been several tutorials posted. Since I respect your building greatly, I'd like to see what inspires you.
  22. I'm with you. I went from three or four magazines a month to now only MCM. I'm having withdrawl.
  23. They've pretty much folded. I'm owed issues from my subscription. They posted this earlier this year: ” We have been working hard over the past 18 months or so to get TRJ back on track, including a move to our new facility in Denton, Maryland, photographing new articles for the upcoming issue and a host of other business related items. In 2022 we plan to resume a normal publishing schedule. We are working on two immediate goals to get us back on track. First, we are very far along in publishing TRJ #85 and aim to get it out to subscribers and dealers as soon as possible. The second is that we are working on shipping/reshipping all orders that have been placed but have not been received. Until we have taken care of these issues, we are not accepting new orders for subscriptions, back issues or merchandise. We feel we must take care of existing obligations before accepting new business.” Steve Coonan That post left me hopeful but we're at the halfway point in the year. Their webpage is back up but most of the content from the previous design is gone. I'd love to see them back but I'm quite doubtful I'll ever see another new issue.
