  1. Nice build. Interesting comment on the body. I think both the Revell and MPC body tries to capture this era and both miss in the wind shield area. MPC got a LOT closer. I prefer the Johan body but you need to look at the actual car you're trying to build. In this era there were several companies that made funny car bodies. What was right for the SWC Mustang would not be right for the Mickey Thompson Mustang that Johan molded.
  2. I miss this era of racing. Great throw back to it.
  3. I lone Daddyfink's picture. Wish I knew of a source for those decals.
  4. Actually Jungle Jim ran both a Logghe style and a digger chassis. The Slixx decals can do either one.
  5. Amazing work in this thread.....wow. Steve's work is the best seats I've ever seen in a model. I'm curious as to how you made the tonneau cover upholstery. What paint did you use?
  6. So where's the model? Absolutely great pics.
  7. Please don't think my statement is anything less than praise. I love what you're doing. The rear wheel tubs and the area for the rear differential are great. I picked up a started Firefighter Mustang II that someone did the same think to the chassis. Great improvement.
  8. Last available in 1969 or 1970.
  9. Great design and execution. The use of the battleship hull is brilliant. While parts don't look prototypical, at least to my knowledge, they look functional. For example I've never seen a front suspension with one air shock severing both axles but it could work. The front wheel flairs with built in ground effects is wonderful original thinking. Congrats on a masterpiece.
  10. A bit off topic but yet related. I've seen this chassis stuffed under several Opel GTs and other small cars as a drag racing transformation. Chassis was only useful as a fairground cruiser. I appreciate your efforts to actually make it a legitimate chassis design.
  11. If you're doing significant remodeling or have a dropped ceiling, I'm really happy with my LED can lights.
  12. Mask it and flame it!
  13. Helps save my money for Moebius, Salvano's and Atlantis......someday I'll learn to spell them.
  14. I remember seeing this in Car Model magazine. It was an amazing model then and still is. I never knew the color scheme as it was printed in black and white. Its great to see it survived.
  15. Sorry the eraser didn't work for the engine turned panels. I am glad you found a use for it. The idea of not enough torque to break bits is a huge plus. The wing looks killer!
  16. The Hawaiian has a Logghe chassis design. There were three Logghe chassis designs. These appear to be Stage 3 chassis. For the Dyno car, you want a Stage 1 such as what is in the MPC Dyno Don car or one of the PL kits.
  17. That is such a smooth looking build. The paint looks amazing.
  18. I appreciate the way you describe it "just like a good resin." I'll admit the decals scare me, but this is a great display piece.
  19. Thanks.....I hadn't even thought of that. If I remember correctly it has the blower drive cover that was typical for three 1 inch belts which really fits this period.
  20. I'm working on a competition coupe based upon the Revell Slingster. I've made bunches of changes and would like to figure out what engine to put in it before I start posting pictures. The engine could be either injected or blown. I've thought of several options and would like suggestions as to well detailed engines that would have been used from 1959-63, which seems to be the era these cars were most popular. Some thoughts I've had: Stock Slingster motor (not my first choice as I'll build another CC coupe, which will be a replica of an actual car and that motor choice seems right for that project) Tony Nancy 22 Jr. kit- either the Buick or the super stock 426 although the 426 seems too new even without Hemi heads Don Garlits 1964 Swamp Rat- this is a version of the 392. Some say its undersized. If I can find some Red Ram valve covers it would be interesting AMT Willys Olds Other suggestions?
  21. I just wish the gasser was the '64 and the stock was the '65. I know I could do some part swapping but rather not buy two kits to just build one.
  22. The picture of Truman Fields Hard Times Pontiac brings up a lot of memories.....I saw it run numerous times.
