I'd like to see the list of what's available in October.

I just completed a trade with Karl Smalley (afxmustang). Quite happy. Item was as described, packed well. As good as a trade gets.

Your tire decals will look better if you coat them with dull coat after lettering them. A lot of people will spray gloss on the tires, then decal the tires. Then dull coat them afterwards. Your overall build looks like its going to be killer when you're done.

It looks the part. I'm sure if we were on the salt in the 50's we'd see something very similar on the flats.

My experiences with brake fluid is mixed. I had a Tamiya Porsche I used it on. After three days, the plastic was deformed. In the same vein, whats the best thing to strip chrome to the bare plastic removing the chrome and the chrome under layer?

New Corvette or Camaro. The nose reminds me more of the Camaro.

The wheel looks right although I agree with you that the music wire is a touch small. Do you think the same technique would work with a 1/16 wheel which of course would be half the size? Thanks, Mike

This HAS to be THE crapiest box art EVER!!!!

Over the years I've always held these two kits up as a low standard. A black car against a dark gray background. Any designer can tell you that's a no-no. -

I never saw the second reissue of the '59 Chrysler.....if so I'd bought it. I saw the first one and had no idea what was inside. I thought it was a promo that had been converted into a kit. I passed on even picking up the box. -
Two thumbs WAY up. Looks like what I saw in the early 70's on a Sunday afternoon at the local strip. Mercy I miss those days.

This is my first look at this project in a couple of weeks. The details you're throwing into a curbside is amazing.

It looks terribly archaic and dangerous.....just like the real one. Looks like you nailed it.

Porsche Outlaws & Hot Rods

I absolutely love this car. When I was younger this would be my ideal of a daily driver. Now I feel like I need AC and cruise. Still it would be a blast to own. -
Those look the part......what about the rear wheels and slicks?
-
The question is what class are you aiming for. If its a lower class altered tilt it. If a gasser, don't. Either way you need to change the front wheels. Wires wouldn't hold that much weight especially if the car wheel stands.

Absolutely. I remember selling a bunch of AMT and MPC original issue stock cars to one individual. His building was poor but they were his.

I want the Monogram 49er. Remember my cousin built it and wanted his build from my youth.

As for those of us who have large kit collections, if it weren't for collectors the manufacturers would have gone under some time ago. Proof of this can be found in most hobby rooms. How many of us have three times the kits we'll ever build yet we keep buying! Compare the number of kits that get opened, looked at versus built. A quote attributed to Paul Lindberg was something to the effect of they didn't sell model kits. They sold the thrill of opening the box.

How many kits do you buy in one day
iBorg replied to Spruslayer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My record was 78. Several years ago when kits were about $10 each our local Wally World was scheduled for reconstruction. They had a bunch of models reduced to $2.50 to empty the shelves before the work could begin. I was looking at the kits trying to figure out which ones to buy and the department manager saw me. We talked a bit and he commented that they really needed to be gone by the end of the day. I said I'd buy them all if the price was right. His reply was, ""What about $1 each." I replied, "Let me get a buggy." -
Any idea of the scale of this? I've got several and need to open one eventually.
-
Oh boy, yet again my original issue kits loose value. One Gear Hustler, three Tiger Sharks. I'm thrilled.

The future of Motorsports ?
iBorg replied to Mike 1017's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm a huge fan of Battlebots. Great concept that has a history of mediocre ratings. Are you a fan of the robots or the builders? Note the effort on the promoters to put faces on the builder/drivers. They've learned to focus on the human aspect. This was a six or seven figure project. How many back yard builders will be able to come close to that? -

It's an interesting technology, is it a spectator sport? On only has to look at the down spiral that is NASCAR to understand fans follow drivers not cars. This eliminates the fan allegiance element. Without that I doubt there will be butts in the seat or eyes on the screen. I for one have no interest in watching robots or drones race. I think this would have the fan base of iracing. Without the personalities, there's nothing to follow.
