  2. For lots of handy tips involving scratch building, especially for classics, get Gerald Wingrove's 2-volume set of "The Complete Car Modeller." https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=gerald+wingrove&rh=n%3A283155%2Ck%3Agerald+wingrove
  3. Looks great. But I sure would like to see a stock version.
  4. The Monogram Cord phaeton (with a back seat) is the best of the bunch in this scale, along with the other Monogram classics.
  5. LOVED that show. Robert Loggia in a cat burglar show with a gypsy theme.
  6. The clunky windshield frame is one of the worst parts to me. I'd cut away the upper portions of the frame and carefully paint very thin chrome around the upper edges of the glass, with a proper curve on the corners; there may be an aftermarket DuVal windshield frame that is more accurate. (Use the box art photo of the real car as a guide.) Note that the step plate on the rockers should go down much further than molded. I have never seen even the best build of this kit where the hood fits flush, so test fitting and sanding are critical. One problem that really can't be conquered is that the grille part is too vertical and doesn't lean back enough, but that's no big deal. If you can conquer the windshield and the hood fit, this can look great.
  7. My thoughts exactly. It's wonderful to have Harry's Greatest Hits in one compendium. I'm looking forward to Volume II.
  8. I just ordered this from Amazon.com. Great way to help Harry. Something that we can all do, if we haven't got it already: http://a.co/ciEUaPI
  9. The Uschi logo is scary because it's from a Hitler Youth poster. (I haven't seen "High Castle," but I guess that's your point). Meanwhile, I am loving this build. Superb craftsmanship.
  10. Other builders have noted that the roll-up windows are too thick for a proper interior panel fit, so you might try a test fit.
  11. Killer. It feels very, very authentic.
  12. Actually, it's 1:25. The wire wheels are okay, but hard to find better replacements. For those interested in the kit, note that it's the 2nd generation fuel-injected GTi version, though many owners reverted to the Weber carb version. Not a tremendously accurate kit, but the only game in town, and this is as good a box-stock build as you'll find anywhere – just excellent.
  13. We amassed a large library of DK books when my daughter was in grade school. They were mostly for me. Great stuff.

Also in 1:16 scale by Entex and boxed by others. Usually expensive.
