  1. Story of my life, especially when crawling on icy streets.
  2. This is something I was going to suggest using a thin clear styrene sheet such as Squadron used to make as heat-treated Thermaform to duplicate model airplane canopies (out of production). But looking at both the Mefistofele and 806, the slits are so narrow you can only see the openings from a very acute angle. I'd just score the inside edges, add wash or ink, and call it a day.
  3. Steve, that convertible top is the perfect finish. What paint?
  4. I once saw a YouTube video of the renovated Mefistofele being fired up. What a monster -- you should include an audio chip.
  5. Well, "daily" is not a good description of 60s Alfas as a driver. You share joint custody with your mechanic.
  6. An Awesome and very astute approach, which I liked the first time around. Surprisingly for such a rare car with only one remaining example, this kit can be built in a multitude of variations based on archive photos -- or your own imagination.
  7. While I wouldn't actually go the trouble of displaying a model in a 3D diorama, I do like the idea of a display that adds to the history / image / environment. My thoughts on one model that I have yet to build, the 1/16 Mercedes SS... While the kit is supposedly based on a 1927/28 SS, it more closely resembles a 1933 version owned by German theatrical impresario Willy Forst. This shot was taken at Lake Zurich. I was thinking of making a base that included a roadside wall, with this shot of Lake Zurich made into a poster as a background (it's a VERY big file). This is the way the kit looks when built, as incredibly modeled by the late Martin Swire.
  8. Looking great.
  9. I had a '66 GT Sprint Veloce, and this excellent build brings back nice memories.
  10. Strange that people would complain to you. Sometimes I find images to be confusing that are shown on the workbench with all kinds of tools and paints in the background, which I think sells short all the hard work, but that's not up to me. I think your "Photoshop Diorama" approach is just fine; I also think that detail and other shots on a seamless background, as Harry mentioned, would be good in addition to the PS approach.
  11. The upside is that he has since switched to paddle-shift cars including a Ferrari Modena, an Aston Vantage and now a Mercedes AMG GT. See? You have lots of options.
  12. My brother had sciatica that ran down his left leg, and eventually got over it with treatment. Before he recovered, however, he had to sell his Porsche because using the clutch was too painful.
  13. Very, very nice. How was the kit to build?
  14. Rolls management probably had to give the guys in design /R&D something to stimulate their creative juices besides making rolling bank vaults.
  15. The Auburn could really use a more accurate windshield. The resin version above looks a bit better (top and center post need to be much thinner).
  16. I'm with Harry. I was going with the presumption that we're dealing with production cars, but the main keyword was Michelotti,so I could have found it if I'd identified the designer.
  17. Killer. It would be great to see some outdoor pics.
  18. Sounds positive. Here's to successful treatment.
  19. Absolutely spectacular.
  20. Terrific. The detail on the dash is outstanding, and so is the woodwork -- perfectly subtle.
  21. The other side of the car is simpler with the long part of the belt secured to the frame, below the side of the hood, with a round bolt. My picture only applies to the right side. So you could leave the left side of the belts permanently attached and unplug the right side of the belts to open the hood. Or make both side attachments removable.
  22. Metal Metal sheath/extension which attaches to a round bolt thingy that fits into a body hole. Shown unsecured at the front belt. You might also note the zigzag safety wire pattern. For wire, consider using a strand of your wife's hair.
  23. Dash looks great.
