  1. That's why I mostly eat in the store.
  2. This one has some of the best plastic wire wheels I've seen in 1/24. The Johan 1/25 Mercedes 500K Gold Cup kit wheels are also quite good. How are the Morgan wheels?
  3. Around here, my favorite burger fast casual / carryout joint is Five Guys -- about 1,000 US locations. Very similar to In-N-Out Burger, but the burgers are slightly larger and cost a bit more. Only problem: by the time I get home, the fries usually end up soggy. McAllister's is very good for soups and deli sandwiches. Chick-Fil-A beats the heck out of super-salty KFC.
  4. Why not do the 1/16 Weymann?
  5. Ditto on the Johan Gold Cup classics.
  6. If you want to do the standard blue/gray racing plaid, download the accurate pattern below. Accurate scale is ten color squares across the seat back. You'll have to fill in the pleat seams on the kit seats, since the cloth plaid was never pleated.
  7. I'm not sure, but this may be a spoof (though it has an Ungar logo on the box)
  8. 1:19 '55 Ford sedan 77 Sunset Strip
  9. Another of your usual stunners. I wish I could afford one.
  10. Sad. The only images I can find of the original car go back to publicity photos in its racing days. Makes me wonder what Italeri had to go on when making the kit.
  11. I keep reminding my now-married daughter that she can never repay me enough for having taken her to see "The Pokemon Movie" when she was little. It was excruciatingly awful. I don't know how much we spent on game/trading cards.
  12. The nice thing about these old racers like my Bugatti T59 is that the dash panels are totally flat and you can do a lot with them.
  13. My worst were the Pyro Auburn Speedster (hood fit impossible) and any Revell multipiece body, such as the Austin Healey 100/6 and Cadillac Brougham (can be done, but not by me).
  14. I don't know what computer you have, but my old IMac is all-regions compatible with PAL DVDs. So I go ahead and order European versions if that's all that's available. Check your system's capabilities.
  15. This guy is a superb diorama builder and photographer. He mostly uses existing diecast cars.
  16. I think BTD's original suggestion was misinterpreted. I think he means to leave the model on a flat surface, then place the Tupperware bowl part over it as a cover -- not to place it inside a sealed container.
  17. This 1953-59 Becker Mexico (tube type) was the factory option for the 190SL and 300SL Gullwing. The key part is getting the mounting panel right, which goes beneath the dash at the center.
  18. I just saw one of the last smiling pictures of her at a very advanced aged; if you knew who she was, you'd say she aged well.
  19. Well, I passed along the belly pan question to my executive contact at the Benz factory's Classic Center in Irvine, CA, and he said "if I'm not mistaken, the belly pan is body color." I think he's mistaken.
  20. The best all-around reference book I've found is "Mercedes-Benz 300SL" by Dennis Adler, usually available at Amazon, with reasonable prices for the soft cover. Lavishly illustrated with color photos and factory images. Includes the cabrio, plus year-by-year changes. Should answer most questions that a modeler might ask. There are other good ones, including a couple from the Benz-published "Faszination SL" series.
  21. I certainly will bow to Paul Russsell's knowledge; all I know is from the many images I've found online, only one of which shows a beige color. Incidentally, how do I get my hands on some strawberry red metallic paint? ?
  22. The belly pan would usually be a warm medium gray. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-300SL-Gullwing-OEM-Genuine-Center-Belly-Pan-Great-Condition-/231913679747 EDIT: Here is a very complete and accurate reference for a Gullwing, including belly pan shots toward the end. http://www.fantasyjunction.com/cars/1661-Mercedes-Benz-300SL Gullwing-3.0 Litre 6-Cylinder Harry should note that this car doesn't have outside review mirrors; one simple factory mirror was optional for the driver's side, anything else like a Talbot style mirror would be aftermarket.
