Our new toy we picked up Sunday........
Dave Van replied to Dave Van's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
We were told a odd story of the car by the estate seller. Only comfortable saying 'family issues'. We did get paperwork showing 6K miles is correct. Thanks -

PLUS....this will affect ' R2 April 2025' and forever going forward. I feel we have done well talking about our hobby. THANKS!

OK...AGREED. BUT it is the number one factor affecting our hobby. I checked with some of my friends that own brick and mortar hobby shops. They are already having a hard time getting stock. This may become worse than the 'DEATH of the Hobby' in the 70's or anything else we have faced. Thanks

Question about sales at shows after stock market downturn.
Dave Van replied to iBorg's topic in Contests and Shows
The bank Analyst in me says skip the show (looks like you are) The hobbyist says go. From a selling point shows are a dud for those with mixed collections of commons. ebay is very expensive but cheaper than a 5 hours trip with hotels, meals and gas, (tolls too in DC area) -
Correct. Tooling cut in China is co-owned by the Chinese government. It will not leave China. What about old 60's era tooling that was sent to China....R2 owns it right?!?! Well kinda. IF work was done to the tooling and/or modifications, China now owns part of the tooling. A few years ago a model train manufacture wanted to move tooling to Korea. A horrible accident happened and all the tooling fell of a dock and was no longer usable.....what are the odds 55 tools all fell off the same day?? This mess was 100% preventable. In 2015 a book was written that foretold all of this. MANY industry leaders had warned about long be fore the book. ( The 100 year Marathon was the book) The China tariff is now 125% as of today. NO ONE selling in America Chinese made goods will survive 125% increase. I think it will be worked out. China needs us more than we them. Either way I am glad to have a HGE collection of kits and will never NEED any more. Thanks

May be tough to beat Howard's RUSH......I'll check it out. -
Where is Grandview???? I have family in Columbus and visit often over the last 30 years. I recall the days where it took me all day to hit all the hobby shops. There was a good one off High in a big shopping center......even a shop off Roberts that had a big slot car track. Add to it the 3 model railroad shops....it was great in the pre internet days. Anyone go to the Blue Caboose?? It was a collector toy store, old and rare, but I found some kits there too. Today I hit Robbies and two trains stores when I visit. thx

The Miller High Life Mustang
Dave Van replied to RIXprints's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Good job!!! I like that kit. I want to combine this and Tamyia Capri for a full detail. -
Rear suspension is still wrong for the GM cars. They need truck trailing arms set up. Salvinos added some but they were 1/32 scale!!!!!!

Fantastic conversion work!! I have a 3D printed body I will use for my Adam-12 rep.......... Any details on construction?? Thx

Largest kit box ever?
Dave Van replied to OldNYJim's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Revell 1/96 scale Saturn V kit box is over 4 feet tall. Not because it needs to be but it becomes a storage case after building -
Anyone Done The Flat Bed Ford From Winslow
Dave Van replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I ride the Amtrak Southwest Chief to LA on a regular basis. Once on our stop at Winslow there was a 50s era Ford parked at the station. Not the one pictured but wonder if kinda a local joke? -

Formula 1 Cadillac
Dave Van replied to lordairgtar's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Kinda sounds like Caddy is just re-badging the engine. I'd be more impressed if they built their own engine. -
Formula 1 Cadillac

I am bias toward Caddy......but I wish they'd have picked NASCAR as rumored........ Why I am bias..... -
