  1. Thanks Rob. At first glance, that website could be a real wallet-emptier!
  2. James, who or what is USCP?
  3. Tulio, thanks for posting the link to the file. That will be useful! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
  4. Casey, what have you done? LOL What has been seen cannot be unseen!
  5. The original is the best one any way!
  6. Well done Tulio! It looks great. I hope you have a proud sense of accomplishmnt in the restoration of this model. Do you think you might find another one to do a sibling build up?
  7. Tulio, I would definitely consider this as a "once in a lifetime" event. As such, I would take pictues of the parts as they exist now. I would then suggest that you work your magic to restore the car to the condition that it was in when you gave it to your friend.
  8. James, every time I watch your Stash Report, I am in total amazement of all the prime Japanese kits that you have. I know that I will never get to all of mine ... how can you possibly complete all of yours?
  9. Pat these kits are really great. For many years I had the Manglia on display in my classroom, along with my Godzilla collection! LOL
  10. Eric, when I went to the Detroit show, I saw in person the magic that you have worked. This one however, might be a real challenge! : )
  11. I am really liking your combination of flat black and a dark shade of red on the wheels.
  12. The dusty weathering of the chassis looks just right.
  13. I can now understand why Dakar and Baja vehicles must have amazing suspension systems!
  14. With the help of Google, and the given box top image, it appears to be a Tomy kit of the "1954 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL"
  15. What a great build up. Your masking for the flat / semi-gloss parts is ultra sharp and clean. Very well done.
  16. Greg, I use a product called Blue Tac, in a similar manner to Silly Putty. The volume of paint that covers the putty is almost negligible. After you remove the putty after masking, kneading the putty will make the broken-up paint particles all but disappear. I have used the same Blue Tac now for several masking jobs. It has discoloured a bit, but is still very much usable. I hope this helps.
  17. Jeroen, You have me drooling with envy. Some ambitious kits there ... Tamiya 1/12 Williams FW-14B ... WOW!
  18. Jonathan, thanks for the in box review. That definitely looks like a kit worth purchasing.
  19. Jonathan, I am looking forward to your open box review in Pheeden's Garage.
  20. Andy has a Youtube channel called Andy's Hobby Headquarters. He has many videos. His main focus is on armor and aircraft. His build quality is top notch as are his videos.
  21. David, you are so right. A group I participate in, has the use of a room inside a Michael's for meetings. On my first time attending, I had to check out the model section. The car selection was disappointing. I almost picked up Revell's 1/48 Strike Eagle. With coupon, it would have been $26 + tax. Tax in Ontario is pretty steep at 13%. I rummaged through the kits for a bit longer and found a C7R pushed to the back of a shelf, behind other kits. Now that was more like it. With coupon and tax, it came to $20 and change. i was lucky on that one. Not much else was really current. A friend told me that it has been over a year since there was a reset. I guess they really are not focused on the model building hobbyist.
  22. When I was tempted by one, it was more for the wheels and tires. Although I had not seen them, I assumed they might be passable. in the end, never did get one. That Mercedes V12 looks more than crude to put it kindly. You might be insulting the recipient car. LOL
  23. Dan, here is a rather twisted thought. Why not just build it as it is. No putty, no filling, no sanding. Let the parts fit/glue together as they may. This will actually display the pure quality of this masterpiece of a kit. A while back, my LHS had stacks of the LEE version of this kit. I can't remember the exact price they were asking for it. It was $10 or less. They just sat there and sat there. They practically couldn't even give them way. They sell a lot of Tamiya product at that LHS, so car guys were well aware of questionable origins of the kit.
  24. Whhhaaaat .... he drives a Ford!
  25. Mike now you got me thinking. I can see potential victims in a 'Sharknado' diorama.
