Thanks for your review. Disappointed it is a curbside but very impressed with the nature of all the trim bits - chrome, black plastic, decal and metal. It sure looks like it will build up to be a very attractive display model. I had a girl friend in the late seventies who had a tii so I got to drive one a fair amount. They were a great car. I did a diecast conversion to match her dark green car with tan upholstery.

You did a fabulous job building this often criticized [for valid reasons - IMA] kit. I especially like the Shelby wheels.
-
Great concept and execution
-
Great trio of GT40s which have to be on the top ten list of all time racing cars and maybe cars overall

I have been so impressed with this and another recently posted under glass completion that I bought myself one of these kits today. Notice the tires are much better than the original issue. I am currently modifying a 37 Slant-back sedan into 36 configuration but now wondering if I should have started with the body in this kit !!??

Slicks and a HEMI make for a great combination. A very well turned out Highboy Deuce.
-
A very well thought out and executed model. It definitely looks the role of a Speedweek contender.
-
Classic! Very well done and quickly at that.
-
Very impressive detail and photography. Really like the interior and chassis detail

Thanks Guys - Yes I noticed the bulkiness of the pedals in the photo. Even though they will be hard to see in the completed model, I likely will modify them. I have pretty much finished with the other necessary modifications and am now getting parts ready for painting. I just got a new camera so hope to have an update in the near future.

Great design. Fabulous execution. I like it a lot.

Great to hear the show turned out well. Looking forward to seeing the photos. Did a lot of spectators take in the model car show? Sometimes there is so much 1/1 eye candy at an outdoor car show that people miss the model car show!

I still have not bought a new camera to replace the one stolen so I dug out an old one to give it a try. It works OK but I miss the improvements the stolen camera had. MORE HISTORY – The rules for the Trans-Am Series evolved and changed over the six of the first era of the series. For the first two years the rules were closely based on the FIA Appendix J for Group 2 Touring Cars but Trans-Am cars were never required to have full interiors except for door panels, dash top and basic dash structure. The headliner and complete floor covering eventually were removed although Shelby customer cars were delivered with headliners. The only seat was usually just the racing bucket for the driver, although I have spotted a passenger seat in a photo from an early ’67 race. In 1967 a roll bar was required although full cages were recommended. Jerry Titus raced two Mustangs during the 1967 Series and crashed both. The earlier car appears to have had only a single hoop roll bar as the front part of the roof got crushed in the crash. This car initially raced as a white car before later being painted yellow. The second Mustang, which was the first Trans-Am car to be acid dipped, had a roll cage which protected the front of the roof when it was crashed. According to the rulebook, batteries were required to be mounted in their original position but my research indicates they were relocated to the trunk of the '67's as they were in the GT350Rs I have decided to build the earlier car which was the second one built by Shelby of the 26 total. Like the real car, it will be first painted Wimbledon White and not have a full roll cage. Modifications since previous update - Added extra detail where rear bumper would be mounted. Going to revise cover for stock fuel filler - Separated engine compartment from body to facilitate separate painting but first drilled for hood pin location - Separated front sub-frame from chassis again to facilitate separate painting - Removed fuel tank also to facilitate separate painting. Widened rear wheel wells by cutting inner vertical section and pulling inwards. Also had to relocate forward end of springs to give enough clearance for wide tires. Cut holes for over-rider traction bars - Interior – smoothed floor, fabricated panels where rear seat no longer is. Removed details from dash to make ready for racing instruments

1965 Mercury Comet Cyclone (update 1/4/19) Finished!

Hey Steve - Are you going to do one of your famous front disc brake conversions? -
I love these historical hot rod projects and will definitely be following along

This is a great thread. It was started while I was away so I am very glad I discovered it. It got me motivated to get back to work on my '67 Mustang Trans-Am. Especially valuable is the link to the Trans-Am rule books. Was surprised to find out batteries had to remain in stock position. I have always been a a first and second generation Falcon fan. In the early 2000's I was fortunate to own a very nice 65 hardtop cloned as a Canadian only Hi-Po 4-speed. It had front disc brakes, was slightly lowered with American mags. I still miss it. I got to do three fairly quick 'Parade" laps around Pacific Raceways Kent Washington. I built a model of that Falcon based on a Modelhaus resin and more recently built a phantom Lotus-Falcon based on the Trumpeter kit. Keep up the incredible work.
