  1. I really enjoyed seeing the 599 with the 250. Two very nice models of two very nice Ferraris.
  2. Dan Gurney’s son Justin had Ford build a special version of the most recent Ford GT to honour his father. Unfortunately, Dan passed away before it was delivered so he never got a chance to see it or drive it. Although a Gurney roof bubble was considered it would not work with this design but because it is the largest of all Ford GTs Dan would have easily fit this car. This was a very straightforward, virtually box-stock build of the excellent Tamiya kit. It was painted with Tamiya spray paint without any polishing or clear. The only changes I made were using real mesh for the six small rear vents rather than the provided decal over clear plastic kit solution and the added decals for Dan’s Heritage livery. Dan’s wife got him a 2005 Ford GT for his birthday with a Gurney bump over the driver’s seat. I have heard these second-generation Ford GTs were very driver friendly cars and Dan drove it frequently. This model was built from the Polar Lights pre-decorated snap kit to which I added a Gurney bump. My 1967 Le Mans winning Ford GT40 MKIV was built from the MPC kit. I was inspired to put this quartet of Ford GTs together while building the replica of the Fujimi Mercury GT40 MKII Dan shared with AJ Foyt at Daytona 1967 where it did not finish. This is the same car Dan put on the pole at Le Mans 1966. JUSTIN GURNEY HONORS DAD’S LEGACY WITH FORD GT DUO IN FAMILY’S GARAGE
  3. You did a wonderful job on your build of one of the most attractive F1 cars of all time. I bought a 1/43 diecast as soon as it became available and still have it. Cannot forget Michael Schumacher making his F! debut in this car.
  4. Utterly magnificent. BRAVO !!
  5. Very well integrated hot rod. Every component is so appropriate. The sum of the parts work perfectly together.
  6. Thank you very much. I have made arrangements with the Jaguar Car Club of Victoria to auction off the model at their event in July which is the largest gathering of Jaguars in North America. Proceeds will go the the Victoria Hospice.
  7. I'd love to go for a drive in this one !! As always great model - great photos. I just looked at photos of the "real" real car. You nailed it.
  8. I really like your road race special. I was at the Monterey Historics one year when specials were featured there and at Pebble Beach. I even helped out in the paddock at the Stovebolt Special HWM Chev. I also wanted to build a special myself but never found the right donor kit as a starting point.
  9. Nicely built. I remember being blown away when the Monster Coach appeared on the TV show.
  10. Nice to see a well done but not often seen Square Bird
  11. Great build. Have been wanting to do something similar myself.
  12. Yes I can imagine. I used lots of CA/crazy glue then hit it with accelerator. I did add an inner joiner piece on one side.
  13. Thanks guys - I have it on my mantle and I am enjoying looking at it.
  14. Good looking race car with a sharp livery. I wish I had the seen that era of IMSA GTP's race in person. There were so many great cars.
  15. Close counts for me most of the time but it does look right on first observation however I did find it weird that that no driveshaft was included between the transmission and differential. I did add one although even that is not in anyway accurate as no-one is probably going to look underneath. Building this did bring me back back to the mid-1970's when I had 3 friends with E-Types. One was a fairly new yellow Coupe that I never got a chance to drive or ride in. Years later I mentioned this to the former owner to which he replied all I had to do was ask. Opportunity missed !! The other two were mid a 1960's roadster and a coupe which I got to drive a few times. Those big 6's were sure tongue monster engines but you sate too close to the skinny steering wheel.
  16. Thanks everyone I really appreciate your comments. It turned out way better than I expected and I am currently enjoying looking at it on my mantle. It is the only 1/8 scale model I have ever been involved with and I have to admit it was a daunting experience !!
  17. This 1/8 scale Jaguar XKE Coupe project started a number of years ago when a friend gave our car modelling club the kit that he figured he would never get around to building. Enough modellers volunteered to share in the building that it seemed all I had to do initially was to sort out and divide up the parts. It was a joint decision that the E-Type should be British Racing Green. Meanwhile individual modellers built the engine, assembled the independent rear suspension, inboard brakes and differential, put together the front suspension and engine support structure and looked after the interior. Once all this work was completed everything was brought together for final assembly. Considerable trimming of parts was required to get things to fit together reasonably closely. Maybe this was due to there being more than one builder and assemblies being done in isolation. Once all together the model is definitely impressive and not just because of its size. The opening door and hood gaps are amazingly close.
  18. Absolutely wonderfully built "Cobra". I really appreciate that you completed the engine compartment which is maybe the only thing lacking with the 427 kit and which most builders do not fabricate. Reading your write-up got me thinking of the later small block British "Cobras" produced by Autocraft.
  19. Thanks Raoul and Danno. I really enjoyed seeing the photos from the show that I really wanted to attend but 1/1 car problems got in the way.
  20. Very nice model and it certainly would have been fun to see it racing
  21. Well built Good lookin
  22. Definitely lots of great long roofs in your thread. I was just trying to build up enthusiasm for the soon to be re-released Tudor
