Ferrari 250GT SWB Fresh from the Barn!

Well done top to bottom, inside and out. The interior looks amazing. Preservation has become so significant in the collector car world that this year's Best of Show at Pebble Beach was an unrestored car. -
Thanks - Tamiya Light Blue Metallic goes on real nice directly from the spray can. It is very shiny but I did add a couple of coats of Tamiya clear.

Thanks everybody. I am really pleased at how well received this Tudor has been.

Thanks very much for your great comments. When I saw another model on the forum painted with Tamiya Light Metallic Blue I knew it would be the perfect paint for this Tudor. The real car and another very similarly styled local 5-Window are both painted with Toyota Speedway Blue which is a little lighter in shade than the Tamiya paint but very close. I have used Ala Kart wheels and tires on a couple of other Deuce models although with white wall slicks at the rear. I also like chopped Sedans and have built a couple of those - one a hi-boy the other full fendered.

There are at least four really nice full-fendered, unchopped ’32 Ford Sedans that I often see at local car shows but there is one in particular that I like so much it inspired me to build this model. I built this model pretty much straight from the recently re-released kit adding a few parts from elsewhere and making some changes. It is not exactly like the real car but closely resembles it in many ways. There is a great 2-page article with lots of photos on Canadian Hot Rods website about this car which the owner calls Tiki Dream. You can view the article at https://www.canadianhotrods.com/features.php?&action=hotPage&ID=129 I have read that the owner has said that if he was to do it over, he would have chopped the top but I like it just the way it is. ALTERATIONS & ADDITIONAL Wheels and tires from AMT Ala Kart Shifter, valve covers and moon tank from 5W kit – added Tiki shift knob to shifter Modified the upholstery Banjo steering wheel and dash from Model Car Garage 4-speed from AMT ’69 Cougar Parallel rear springs, shock absorbers and drum brakes X-frame adapted from Revell ‘37 Ford PU PAINT – Exterior Tamiya Light Metallic Blue – Interior Tamiya Pearl White

I finished my Tudor build today. It was inspired by a car I have seen many times and I have always really liked the way it looks. I am going to post more photos and details Under Glass.

Jay Leno’s Mercedes Benz 300SL Gullwing arrived yesterday in Victoria BC Canada for some service work. It was on last evening's local TV news and on the front page of todays local newspaper. Considering how capable the personnel are at Jay Leno’s Garage it is quite a surprise but also a testament to the fact that Victoria has been the home for many years of some of the best Gullwing restorers in the world. Hearing this news promoted me to check out my 300SL stash. Although I was aware of the AMT kit when it first came out I never had the opportunity to build it as a kid. After getting back into the hobby in the mid 1990’s it was one of the first kits I bought at a swap. Disappointingly the body in that kit was poorly brush painted. Later I won the winning bid at a GSL fund raising auction on a bagged kit. Over the years I have also acquired the Revell 300SL Gullwing, the Italeri 300SL Roadster and of course the Tamiya Gullwing. So far I have not built any of them. Maybe that brush painted AMT Gullwing would be a good place to start with a replica of Jay Leno’s car !!??

I have completed the interior of my Tudor. The banjo steering wheel and dash are from Model Car Garage and I fashioned a bit of a Tiki shift knob. The upholstery pattern was altered and thin solder was used for the trim on the door panels. The blue is Tamiya Light Metallic Blue which will be the exterior colour. Both the blue and the Tamiya Pearl White were matt coated.

I always enjoy seeing a C5R - one of my favourite race cars and great to see with your C7R. Hope you find a C6R to complete your hat trick !!
