  1. This model is a tribute to the well known ’32 Ford Roadster that was the daily driver of the late - lamented Gray Baskerville who was a popular photographer and writer for Hot Rod and Rod & Custom magazines. In 2007 for the 75th anniversary of the ’32 Ford, Gray’s hot rod was identified as one of 75 most significant Deuces. A cover story on the car that appeared in Rodders’ Journal made me realize how similar in many respects the 1/24 Revell/Monogram ’32 Roadster kit is to Gray’s car. My intention was not to build an exact replica but a model that captures many of the distinctive features of Gray’s hot rod as I really enjoy building tribute models. With some previous models I have strived for them to be very close replicas but lately my new strategy has been “close counts” or least making the model recognizable or reminiscent of the actual car that inspired it. For instance, with this model, I concentrated on the upside but maintained the kit rearend and transmission. Gray’s rod had a ’52 Lincoln rearend with split wishbones and the transmission was a Powerglide. 2. Looks fantastic from where I am sitting. I was at the Monterey Historics the year Jim Hall and Chaparral were the featured marque so saw them all up close and at speed.

  5. Very well built and great photos.
  6. Super tidy build. Well done.
  7. Very well built and attractive Deuce from a great kit. Lately I have been dechroming the entire front end assembly and then gluing it completely together before painting or chroming it.
  8. Super nice. Well built.
  9. WOW - two incredibly well built and interesting dragsters. That is probably the coolest flathead I have every seen. I have got to find out more about.

  12. Love the back story and the model

  14. Love your Deuces. Looking forward to your latest Under Glass and your next Roadster
  15. Thanks for the great coverage of the show. Lots of really fantastic models. I enjoyed seeing them all but it was really cool to see Mike Kollver's stock first gen Barracuda especially with the recent re-release announcement.
  16. Very attractive A-Coupe Hot Rod. Well built.
  17. Thanks Tim for your report and photos. I have been planning a Trans Am Barracuda build using the Hemi Under Glass body so the stock body will make things a lot easier. Back in the day when the '60 Chev wagon was first released I cut it up to make an El Camino.
  18. Congratulations Steve on a gorgeous model of such an iconic car. It is on the cover of the book The Birth of Hot Rodding - The story of the Dry Lakes Era by Robert Gallant. In side is the same photo which you featured in your WIP but shows that it is towing the brothers '34 Coupe which maybe you should build next !!?? I actually saw the '36 many years ago before it was restored on one of my car trek trips to California visiting hot rod shops
