  2. Thank you Bob, glad you like it. Thank you Claude. I used to drive an old mastodon myself until I sold it to a man in Russia in 2014. Now I drive a Dodge Charger. Not a mastodon but still a full sized car. Thank you Lee, I hope to see it soon. Thank you David. I know the quality of your work and your comment means a lot to me. Thank you Philippe. Thanks Gilles, I appreciate that. Thank you Larry. Thank you for your kind comment Paul. Thanks Gene, I'm glad to know you like it. Thank you Rusty, I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out. And thanks again for the tip on fitting the grille assembly, I don't know if I'd have worked that one out on my own. Thank you Helmut, most kind of you to say so. Thank you Chris. Kindest Regards to All, David G.
  3. Hello Everybody! This project is now complete and finished photos can be seen in the "Under Glass" section. Here is a link Thanks to everyone who helped with their comments, suggestions, tips encouragement and support. David G.
  4. Hello Everybody! This is my version of AMT's 1959 Chrysler Imperial. This kit is over sixty years old and is in surprisingly good shape for its age. It's a rather simple kit having a chassis plate, body, and a rather shallow interior. The dashboard and steering wheel are nicely detailed. The inclusion of a hard-top landau roof and boot provide the option of building it as a hard top or top-down convertible. There is no up-top for the convertible. There are, however two sprues (one of then plated) of extra customizing parts, most of which will go into my parts box for use on future projects. The colors I used are Tamiya TS-42 Light Gunmetal and Tamiya TS-40 Metallic Black straight from the can. For those who may be interested in all the gory details of my build process, here is a link to the build thread. One of the bigger challenges with this kit was getting the grille / bumper assembly to fit up flush against the hood in the middle section. Accomplishing this required a good bit of file work. The glass canopy doesn't have the greatest fit but from most angles it looks just fine. This shot also shows the gold tint I put on the crowns above the headlights. A profile that looks like 70 miles per hour even when it's sitting still. Custom clamshell exhaust tips, continental bulge, a subtle gold tint on the eagle crest and tail fins! What's not to like? I also corrected the rear bumper by adding the joining seam between the rear and side portions of the bumper. "LND YAHT" Yup, that says it all. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G.

  11. Nice weathering and details! In the correct setting, it could pass for 1:1 David G.
  12. Beautiful work! It seems to me that your build has more detail than the ones in the program. Maybe it's the weathering that makes the difference. The landing pad is excellent too. I really like what you've done with the lighting. David G.
  13. Nicely Done! Boy, it did have quite a rake, didn't it? David G.
  14. Superb weathering and detail work! David G.
  15. That's one sweet Pete! It's too bad that it's so difficult to catch the true impact of all the added details in photos. What I've seen looks wonderful though. Well Done! David G.
  16. Wow Bob, you're just cranking them out! That's a beautiful color combination, nicely built with lots of fun detail work. Bummer about the hood though, good thing that the engine looks as nice as it does. David G.
  17. Thank you Chaz, I am too. I got a bit more done yesterday so I'm hoping to finish it this weekend. I'm so close that I'm already thinking about my plans for the next one. Thanks Bob, I appreciate that. Thank you Jeff, that's just the look I was going for.

  21. Yes, I had already installed those by the time I posted the photos so I guess I had mentally checked them off the list already. Sorry for any confusion I may have caused. Thank you Carl, I am quite pleased with the way it's turning out. David G.
  22. The paint work looks great in the photos Si. Even in person I don't think the masking errors would be all that apparent even if one knew where to look. David G.
  23. Those are some courageous mods! Looks like you're making it all work though. David G.
  24. The current Postmaster General is the bad punchline to all those old postal jokes. David G.
  25. Hello Everybody! I finally got the foil work done so here are a couple of quick snaps. Now the only things left to do are some detail painting and attaching the mirrors... and maybe the custom exhaust tips, I'll have to see how they look. If all goes to plan, the next photos will be posted in the Under Glass section. Thanks, David G.
