  2. Excellent detail painting on the grille assembly and interior with a good eye-catching paint job. Nicely done! David G.
  3. The ride height looks good, of course lowering the front a little more will give it more of a classic hotrod rake, so it works out either way. I think the artillery wheels with the spinners is the way to go. Everything looks great so far. David G.
  4. May your good fortune with this one continue. David G.
  5. Looks like you're off to a great start. David G.
  6. You're welcome Alan, I'm glad you enjoy it. David G.
  7. Thank you Joe. Sometimes the small things can make a big difference. Thanks Carl. It was certainly a but I think it was worth the effort. David G.
  8. Excellent compensation for the exhaust routing Steve. This is a perfect example of what I call "Proportional Shift". Because of the change in scale and the difference in materials between the model and the actual car, the exhaust pipes seem to be half again as thick as they are IRL. And the torsion bars on the model look to be at least twice the diameter of their real world counterparts. If the model torsion bars were replaced with wire of the same scale diameter and the exhaust parts were similarly represented, then a builder might be able to route everything in a prototypical manner. But even then, one would need to consider the difference in materials. There is just no way that a 2.5mm diameter plastic rod will bend in the same way as a 2 1/2" steel tube. I think you came up with an excellent solution to one of the oldest scale modeler's dilemmas. David G.

  17. Thanks Bill and Rusty. I know that there have been a couple of other members who have gone back and restored some of their threads so maybe it's the start of a trend. Of course there are some threads that we'll never get back and that's no small loss, but we don't have to lose them all. I certainly do appreciate your feedback, thanks for taking the time to offer it. David G.
  18. Still watching, still impressed! Thanks for the update Si, I'm certainly looking forward to seeing the "Ol' Girl" in her colors. David G.

  24. Hello Everybody! I was able to get a little more done on the Imperial this weekend. This one is certainly turning out to be more time intensive than I first imagined it would be for such a "simple" kit. Isn't that usually the case though? Going back to the rear bumper, I sprayed it with some Spaz Stix chrome paint like I did on the front bumper with less than satisfactory results. It ended up looking like crummy silver paint. In fact, Dupli-Color chrome silver would have looked better. Since I'm still waiting for my Molotow order to come in, I decided to use foil on it instead. It took me a couple of hours but I think it came out pretty good. Oh yeah, I also painted a tint strip across the windshield. I may go back and remove a little along the lower portion as it seems to intrude a little farther into center of the windshield than I think it should. I'm also thinking that I probably shouldn't mess with it. As always, thanks for taking the time to look and please feel free to comment. David G.
