  1. I have the card stock paper pack from Amazon, as shown above - doodlebug design stuff. It’s pretty nice for flat areas - I have a Fujimi kit with ejector pins in the cargo area and floors - pain to sand and would show through glue/flock. So I just put some of this there to cover it up. It’s very thick though, so not sure how it would work around curves.
  2. Oh wow wait what? I didn’t look too close before and thought it was 1:24 again - but 1:12? Very interesting.
  3. Very nice. I had a top trim 2013 Elantra Hatchback manual a few years ago. I have a 15 Mazda 3 hatch now, but, sadly, a slush box. But it’s my 106 miles four days a week commuter, so it’s ok.
  4. Looking great. I really like the new additions Tamiya included.
  5. Nice models...and are they sitting on the trunk lid of a third generation Mazda 3...with a manual? Thank you Mazda, for being like that.
  6. Honestly, if you’re doing a bunch of nuts and bolts, look at something like these: https://www.modelbuilderswh.com/collections/detail-parts/products/bolt-head-on-a-washer-0-9mm-all-scales You get a lot for the money and don’t have to chase .001” thin hex pieces around your hobby table, or slice 42 of them to get two parallels sides, or try 15 times to get a hole centered on a .15” hex piece.
  7. Read back in thread. Coupon is going away.
  8. Tom - Probably ten years ago, Ren Shape offered a sample pack for like $20. I bought one to see the different types. I don't remember exactly where I bought it, but a quick Google machine search brings up one from Amazon. It's pretty useful. I use one of the softest to make custom shaped sanding blocks.
  9. Looks like an RC car with some photoshop edits.
  10. Great information - thank you. Looking at kits online I could not discern whether the bodies were changed or not. Now I know.
  11. I bought a can of gold to do the wheels on this kit: I have Alclad pale gold but it’s really pale, so hopefully the Tamiya gives me the “look”. I will probably decant and spray with AB as the can tends to waste a lot.
  12. I have a couple mid-seventies MPC kits and was wondering: MPC Monza - I have a 1975 Monza with some body damage - did this MPC kit body change with any of the later years? Or can I swap out bodies from any other kit or promo? MPC Mustang II - same deal, I have a 1974 Mustang II with bad A pillars - can I swap any MPC II body? Thanks!
  13. That actually looks pretty good. I am so leery about eBay resin parts that my default assumption in a pinhole, 1" thick, crooked mess. But that doesn't appear to be the case here. It comes with bucks to form your glass, so that's maybe little help.
  14. Crimes often depend on where you live. I do not know a single law in Liverpool, but my guess would be that there are no laws forbidding pirating parts from a model that is owned by you. There may be places where this is illegal. Now, had you stolen the model and then planned to use the pirated parts in some nefarious plot to enrich yourself immensely at the detriment of the society around you, then that may be illegal in Liverpool.
  15. And if I remember correctly, the Fujimi plastic is quite thick around the bonnet. I had the kit to steal the engine and got rid of the rest, but looked it over before deciding to let it go. That would nice for the headlight trim. Window trim probably easier by paint and or bmf
  16. I was thinking the same thing, but that’s probably what Japanese consumers say when Revell makes another Chevelle kit... It will be interesting to see how the metal window and headlight trim works. Seems like it would be really difficult to get metal to conform the the curves. I might get one just for the engine and the sideview mirrors...
  17. It’s as good as it gets - as in no other kits like it. It’s kind of a simple curbside and the interior, if I remember, doesn’t have side detail. I think the last time one was released was 7 or 8 years ago with a machine gun. Its been around a while so lots of photos from the Google machine as needed...
  18. So the stock version Jonathon posted above - it comes with a bare interior tub - similar to a stripped or race interior? I kind of like the look but?
  19. That should be nice. The Fujimi and Hasegawa versions are pretty easy to find, but the Tamiya being a full detail (vs Fujimi's added engine version) will, fingers crossed, be the best. I have never like those stock wheel covers. Hopefully a "custom" version will come out later similar to the Skyline 2000GT.
  20. Well, the only reason I’d ever step foot in the place is now going to be gone.
  21. Here is a quick and dirty (and probably a little dusty) photo of one. This is Tamiya fine white primer with Tamiya clear. It is not polished because it’s a State Patrol, so...hope it conveys the look of the paint. here is as close as I can get with my iPhone X.
  22. Nice tribute and the new wheels are great. I really like your dad's old car - I am a long roof fan and don't see many old Toyota wagons around the US. I like that generation of Corollas - the boxy, simple design. I have a 93 Camry wagon, ugly but cool at the same time.
  23. I do the same thing as Carl - for white cars, I just use Tamiya fine white primer with a clear coat. I really like the way this model is looking - the white paint, black wheels, red interior. In the photos it was hard to tell the paint difference on the hood.
  24. They should be. You, as a bit of an "influencer" for some of these kits, can sway buying decisions based on what you think and how the company reacts. It's a little disappointing to see the quality of this brand new kit compared to "old" models reissued by some of the Japanese companies - I don't know how much more difficult or expensive it is for Revell to get to the same standards as Tamiya, Aoshima, etc, but, looking at this kit (and some other of their new kits - the Porsche Panamerica), they aren't even close. I look forward to seeing what you can do with what they gave you on this one Geoff, as it is such a beautiful, iconic car.
