  1. Nice work! Do you have any in-progress shots?
  2. Oh yeah! That would be awesome.
  3. That's cool. Do you know if there are films that don't require heat to set?
  4. That is a bummer. I like the odd-ball skirts, etc.
  5. Does anyone know if this boxing will include any custom / option parts?
  6. I've seen a few builds done with the Psycho Swirl / Swirl-a-delic techniques. (Awesome names, by the way!) I do like that it's kind of "fluid" and you get a different effect every time. Although, I wonder about how "smooth" the paint really is without miles of clear coat. That said, this film stuff looks like you could control the pattern. But as noted by Ray, it seems that finding something scale appropriate is an issue. Here's another sample, I found on Amazon. I wonder what the finish is like - is it smooth? I figured surely someone has tried by now.
  7. Something like this, yep. If there were a way to do your own film.....
  8. This is what I was referring to - the film. I think it's sometimes called "water transfer printing", but I'm not sure. Seems, if you could either find or create your own scale-appropriate patterns, that there might be a way to use this in our hobby. Here's a full-scale version:
  9. Is anyone familiar with a process called "hydrodipping" (maybe "hydro dipping")? I've seen a (very) few videos where people have used a film that lies on top of water, dipped whatever item they plan to color slowly though the film that is floating - and the pattern of the film is transferred to the object. Seems there might be some application for our hobby, but I've not actually seen this in person - so I don't know how think the film is, etc. Similar to spraying oil-based paint on top of water and pushing an object through the resulting film, I guess. Anyone have any experience with this?

    That is wild!
  11. Wow! This may be the best this kit has ever looked! Beautiful work!
  12. Nice - you hardly see these built. It really looks great. I have one - started 17 years ago. Unfinished.
  13. Absolutely stunning!
  14. I just picked up one of these a couple of weeks ago. A guy on our hall in college had one and it was such a cool/weird car (truck? ute?). My kit has major warpage issues with the body, however. Hopefully, I can get that worked out when I build it. Nice work, by the way.
  15. I love this build. I never knew about the car, or that race really. Really cool build.
  16. Tangent to the topic at hand, but how did you do the leaves?
  17. Even so, I'll pickup a couple of copies of this kit. (pickup! haha)
  18. Very nicely done!
  19. Along those lines, I'd like something that looks more "solid" in terms of wheels (the Packard pictured is being built out-of-box; I'm planning/thinking about the second one that I have that I'd like to do something different for...) Something like this poor screen grab ...
  20. It's not RED! Awesome - it really looks sharp in silver.
  21. This is why I love this board - post a question and the creativity just happens. Still not sure if I'll try this, though.
  22. Oh, man that is crazy! I love it!
  23. So, I've been working on the old (and I think well done) Monogram Packard Boattail Speedster. Looking at the lines - two seater, long hood, short tail - got me to thinking, what would this look like if it were hotrodded? Using a second kit, I'm thinking of ditching the fenders (think High Boy); leave the hood off. Can I find any parts to dress up / hop up the Straight 8? What could I use for wheels - these are 19" or 20" wheels, and pretty narrow, as one would expect. Any thoughts? Creative ideas? (is this a dumb idea?) thanks
