  1. Just wrapped up the Revell '68 Beetle. What a fun little kit to build! I'm sure there are concerns about accuracy for those who are true Beetle Aficionados, but for me, it was just a fun little kit. Besides, it's an old car, it might have parts from Beetles of different years on it! Might have been a little too aggressive with that low tire there on the driver's back. And a couple of in-progress shots: New to me techniques (or dumb luck; take your pick!): Based coated the body with Tamiya Red Brown, and various shades made by adding white, black, yellow, etc. to imply rust. Some bits of Tamiya Brown and Black Panel Wash along panel lines Testors Dull Cote More Tamiya Brown and Black Panel Line Wash Hairspray (I picked some gross stuff at the dollar store; which may or may not have been a mistake - boy did it stink!) Various light coats of Tamiya Yellow, lightened with white some Once the Yellow was dry, used an old brush (wet with water) to dab at the yellow in places where I thought rust would be most obvious. Testors Dull Cote Used a variety of oils (cheap, on clearance at the art store) to dab some earthy colors on the body and immediately wiped down with mineral spirits More wash in some areas Testors Dull Cote Touched up the "rust" in places And here we are ...
  2. You've heard of Buck Rogers, now meet Buick Roger! Beautiful work! I think it's one of the coolest interpretations of this kit I've seen in a long time.
  3. Wow! A right-hand-drive Cobra! That is awesome! Love your work, glad to see this thread pop up again
  4. My favorite car! Beautiful build so far!
  5. Wild! Thanks for sharing!
  6. Thanks! I'm close to wrapping up this Earnhardt kit. Hopefully.
  7. Really great work on this!
  8. I'd certainly buy another one or two, even though I have a couple in the stash. My Dad had a 4.3 S10, the square body. He sold it around 250,000 miles because "it smokes a little bit ..." The guy who bought drove it for many years after that. I've seen a variety of engine swaps in these over the years. Anyway, it's a fun little kit and I hope it comes back.
  9. Wow! I never knew this kit could be built so nicely.
  10. Man, that's one ugly car! I'll need this kit.
  11. I wish it would be reissued - as stated, it is a really great kit.
  12. Nice work. Favorite source for either Detail Master or Pro Tech hardware?
  13. What do you guys do for seat belts and racing harnesses? Particularly 1980's forward? Thanks!
  14. Wow, that's nice!
  15. Thanks. I had some trouble with the front; but I think I may have learned a thing or two for the next build.
  16. Excellent!
  17. Kenny Schrader's 1985 Rookie Ride, built (a term I'd use lightly in this case) from the Monogram Rookie of the Year Combo kit. I think most stance and finish errors were of my own creation. But, it's done. Lessons learned to be applied to the next build ...
  18. Possibly this belongs under another part of the forum but: 1) Does anyone have a review of the MPC 1978 Dodge Dart, kit 7826; especially the funky custom bits. 2) What are the odds this kit might be reissued? 19. Very nice! It's a fun little kit. Yours looks great!
  20. Yeah! More! More! This looks like it would be an epic build!
  21. I think I'd try to find a way to make a copy of the windshield from thinner plastic - perhaps using the original as a mold (with clay or something to back it to prevent cracking) and trying to make a thermoformed copy (vacuum-formed). Your build looks great so far!

    1980 Olds

Really looks great and I hope Salvinos continues to improve. Builds like yours make me want to try one.
  23. Nice trade with Dave Branson - thanks!
  24. Really nice build there!
