  1. Rich, you've just built one of my favorite Studes! I like all of the Hawks, but especially the '56-'58 ones as those were one of those "first seen" cars when I first knew what a car was. I've got a resin one of these but I don't remember who made it. R&R?? Needs some work to be correct, but it's among my favorites as far as kits go.
  2. I hear ya on that! I have some reaalll expensive 1/12 and 1/24 Model Factory Hiro kits and I sure hope to heck they don't go bad. I would be rather ticked when the fancy strikes me to build one of them and then much to my surprise and chagrin, they've turned into an unbuildable mess. I thought some years ago there were some Danbury and Franklin Mint models that seemed to suffer from "diecast cancer" as they got old. I may be thinking of something else, but I thought that was a thread here once. ?
  3. Oh OK Gary! The title of the video throws things off as this configuration of the Ford GT I don't remember seeing raced for '66. Either which way, I'm glad they're doing this car as it was a high watermark for Ford when they were into racing.
  4. ModelSpace is absolutely killing me with some killer releases I've seen them intro as of late! You all know about my 1/8 '67 Mustang Shelby I got from them. A model that I haven't touched since I moved and now all the parts are in their respective boxes waiting for the chance to be put together completely down the road. Well, I got this notification from YouTube about another SUPER NICE kit that is GOING to be a MUST HAVE! Take a look............. One of the things which is a must in my new place is building/buying more shelf space. I have the room, just not the one cabinet that I had. It's here, but believe it or not, it is literally too tall for the ceiling. Either which way, that's something I want to do throughout this year. Get more stuff displayed that I'd like to see not just boxed up. Now about the video........I thought this car ran in the '68-'69 race? I'm not a LeMans expert by any means so you guys can help me out here.

  6. This reinforces what I've said about some car makers giving up on cars (like Ford). I still say that by the end of the decade, the truck and SUV craze will have come and gone. Not that they'll die off and no one will want them, but they won't be as hot a property as they are now. I just can't see young folks today (especially years from now) wanting to buy the same type of car that their parents and grandparents are driving. I could be all wet, but this has happened before in the car industry.

  8. FB is weird in that you have to click on "read more" to get the whole story, which then opens up a new tab or window. If you go here, this is the page where he shows what his prices are. I would email him first beforehand as he does have a very tight schedule as he mentions on his page.
  9. Kurt, this is coming along VERY WELL! I really like the door hinges and the way the doors open..........just like the 1:1. ? I have this kit buried somewhere in my stash. Unfortunately, when I last looked at it, the windshield frame was broken right in the middle of the header. Easy for me to fix, but that's the result of Italeri putting it in too "flat" of a box IMO.

  11. I showed this here recently and while this was not super terribly built originally, it was bad enough that I just had to take it apart and redo it. An eBay win I happen to bump into and for 20 bucks the price wasn't bad at all. The chassis on this was MUCH WORSE than the rest of the model. To the point that I had to go out and find a parts car to replace the terribly glued suspension as it was simply unusable as is. In fact, this is the first time I've attempted to rescue a "glue bomb" as far as I can remember. Corvettes are always hard to resist anyway and this '74 was no exception! Before...... The glass on this was THE toughest thing to get out! And the damage done to the roof from using so much glue.......... And now after...............new windshield vacuformed........   13. Oh OK! I bought from this fellow before on eBay..........can't remember his user name right now. I got a '57 Buick Caballero body from him that is VERY well done and 3D printed at that! And yes, I remember on his eBay descriptions that he would be coming out with kits in the future. As I mentioned, these I believe are strictly 3D printed. Here's the Buick I got from him............. Oh man, I gotta see about getting this '67 Marlin!! He sure does VERY good work! For those of you interested, here is his Facebook page. I know some of you don't like going there, but this is only place one can see what he has to offer at the moment AFAIK.

  15. Wow! I truly LIKE this color! The Doyusha 1/12 scale one I have just might get painted this shade of green when I can get the ambition to build it!
  16. I'm not sure about that Joe as a lot of what I do is trial and error anyway. I do know that making those sail panels taller in the interior made a difference in getting the rear to rise up just a bit. You may not want to change too much on the front end if at all. Remember, you'll have the windshield to worry about and its thickness, as well as getting the cowl/firewall to not make interference too if you're going to be changing things.

Snake mentioned this in another thread and since I'm not real big into stockers, I'd like to get this if for no other reason, whack off the roof and replace Revell's incorrect '65 Chevelle Z-16 one. Other parts in the kit I can find other uses for, or if nothing else sell the remains on the 'Bay.
  18. Hee-Hee! ? It's interesting that my place doesn't' have a sump pump. Now as old as this house is it could be that it never needed it. There is an embankment that's right behind my yard as there's train tracks with the occasional train that goes by. That is a barrier of sorts for the river, but of course if the river gets high enough, it can flood anyway. Just the same, I keep nothing of value in the basement. Heard that tune before when my other place flooded back in '11 and that wasn't necessarily from the river, but from the sewers backing up when the river went over a certain height.
  19. I can relate about plumbing! The house I'm in now that was a MAJOR issue before I could even move in. NOTHING worked and there was a super huge leak in the ceiling of the kitchen where there was a "plugged" water line. I didn't know this till I had them come and turn the water on. The water was never shut off, but was turned off in the basement. The millisecond we turned the water on, water is shooting out of the ceiling like an upside down geyser and right then I could see why the ceiling had become damaged. Sooooo....................I got out my tools, went to fix the leak and then there was ANOTHER leak! I must've fixed 7-8 different issues with the plumbing (including the bathroom) before I could call it quits and move in. Some of it was vandalism and this was reinforced by what a neighbor had told me about the people that lived here before. Either which way, I LOVE the house as it stands alone and not attached to anyone, big yard, has a driveway (IMPORTANT!), quiet neighborhood and nice neighbors. One con is that it's takes longer to get to work now (30 minutes as opposed to 10-15), so when it snows which we can get a lot of, I'll more than likely be calling off. I'm also literally against the Susquehanna river (I can see it out my back windows) so I have to be a bit more alert if we get excessive rain for a period of time. Thank goodness I do know a bit about plumbing as I was able to fix all the problems. Had I needed to call a plumber, I can GUARANTEE this would have run into the THOUSANDS.
  20. When I built my AMT '67 Mustang, I remember that was one of the things I had to correct......the tail dragging stance. Part of the problem I learned is that the interior sail panels are not tall enough letting the rear part of the body sit too low to my eyes. I added some plastic to the sail panels to make them taller so that when it was time for final assembly, the car sat the way it should. Here's a pic of a "stock" '67........... And the model before final assembly............ After, with some mods done to the sail panels...... The '67 Shelby since it's based off essentially the same tooling, suffers from this malady also. Easy fix and it definitely helps the stance when done.
  21. Revell made that back when that car was new. I built one and it went together pretty easily without any surprises IIRC. Very nice work so far! Only criticism I have of the kit are the tires. They're correct for an RT, but an SRT should have lower profile tires. I ended up using the rear tires out of Revell's Corvette C6 for all fours on the Magnum.
  22. Wow! Just catching up to this! LOVE the bodywork! That's how it should be done.........just sticking a '66 roof on the lower body without it being modified in the quarters isn't quite correct. Fastbacks and hardtop quarters are indeed different. I like the treatment on the backlite........that gets overlooked at times I've noticed. I'll definitely be following along!
  23. Aaaah OK! Just took a look at the link you sent. I'll see about grabbing one when it comes out as I'm curious to see how it stacks up to Heller's. That T2 bus should be a good seller........lots of possibilities with that one!
  24. GOOD MOVE! That one disappointed me a long time ago once I got a gander at the body! I could probably make the corrections, but there's times when kits are simply costing too much to want to go through all of those changes! ?
  25. Looking over the kit listing I surely hope that bus IS this one! Snap-Fit notwithstanding, I can kitbash the more detailed chassis with something else. I don't think this has ever been done in scale, but I could be wrong. I have seen built diecasts, but it'll be nice to have a plastic one of this. The Jag coupe might be the old Aurora one that's been out plenty of times. I'm not crazy about that one as once again, its proportions look off to me especially in the nose. Want a nice E-Type coupe?? Seek out Heller's VERY nice albeit simplified kit of this car. The lines look spot on and if you're willing to spend some money, look on eBay for Fernando Pinto's hand laced wire wheels. EXCELLENT looking to my eyes!
