1970 Plymouth Duster
Sport Suburban replied to 69NovaYenko's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Their were a few that cast a standard grill for the 71 Duster. It's the non shark tooth one that the 70 Duster used. I don't know of anyone who makes the 70 decals currently. I know that The Last Detail did offer a set with the full sheet that included the 71 and 72 Demon and also a set for The Sizzler plus a gold set of 71 Duster 340. They are now super rare and I have not seen a set in awhile. I have a set and plan to make a 70 with them. The Last Detail also offered a Demon set of decals only and they show up every now and then. I have not researched the differences in the interiors between the two years yet, but wonder what was changed. I have a 72 Duster 340 project started based on the 71 kit. That project has a lot more body work to it than I thought. It's almost ready for paint and I should have done the 70 first. -
I'm down for a resin copy. I love this car and so does my brother.

They are pewter and were also from Mini Exotics. They were just sold separately.

Rex, Those are nice. I have the 68 California Special, 427 Cobra Super Coupe, 68 Cougar GTE in my stash to build still. The 70 Shelby is being rebuilt currently and is too far along to stop now even though Revell put out the nice 69 Convertible kit.

Yes they did and it was a decent kit. I don't know of anyone else offering the same subjects currently. I liked their kits and I wish they were still available. I have built the 68 Shelby convertible and the 69/70 Shelby convertible. I started the restoration of that old build 70 convertible when Revell announced theirs. Funny but I don't remember a 67 Shelby conversion from them. I had purchased one from MPB detail products in 89 to 91 time frame.

1/25 AMT '68 Chevy Camaro Z/28 2'n1
Sport Suburban replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It's nice to have all the parts to build a 68 Z/28 in one box. When I built mine I bought both the 68 street machine and the 67 Z/28. -
I have used this kit to restore a few of the annuals and can tell you there are differences. Both of my 64 annuals, one coupe and one convert, have the seats molded into the tub. The 65 coupe also has the seats molded in. I don't have a 65 vert yet so I don't know for sure on that one. My 66 coupe has the seats also molded in but the 66 vert has separate seats. Plus all of the annual fuelie motors are slightly different that the retooled releases. The annuals valve covers are taller, the top of the injection units have snowflakes cast on them instead of the crossed flanges. None of the annuals had the upper radiator hose. I understand that the hose showed up in the 66 annual with the big block engine.

Mustang 60's fastback question
Sport Suburban replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for clearing that up. When I was reading up on the GT package it only talked about the two 289 engines available. -
Mustang 60's fastback question
Sport Suburban replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes you could get a fastback Mustang with the inline 6. Many were made and as a side note all 6 cylinder mustangs had 4 lug wheels in the first few years. If you got the GT package you got a base 289 V8. If you wanted the 271 HP K code 289 you paid for that too. -
Chevy bow tie logo goes functional

So the new Z28 gets a new emblem, no a/c and no radio for the money. Sounds like a bargain! -
1956 Ford Thunderbird Painting Help
Sport Suburban replied to USFDon2012's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Double check me but I think the auto Trans should be steel not aluminum. The Trans cases back then was cast iron originally.- 12 replies

Very nice!! I have a few of these and they are nice simple kits. It would be nice if they had a trans kit for the 427 engine!! Looking forward to seeing your full detail build with the mark 1 engine!!

I happen to have both issues and Bob is right. The 1971 issue has slight differences in all the emblems front and rear, the marker lights are different too. Even the door handles and locks have differences. I knew the original issue has 1971 cast into the front valance and the latter issue does not. What did surprise me is the original issue hood does not have the cowl vent near the windshield or any detail on the underside. I'm sure they had to backdate the tooling to 71 after modifying the tooling to issue the 72.

That is awesome. I wish it was cast up so I could order a 69.

71 Mustang resin cast parts
Sport Suburban replied to vamach1's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I would be interested in this resin detail kit too! -
Very nice!! Did you know that black was not available on the firebird in 70-75 with the exception of 71? I thought that was strange when I was researching factory colors for my 70 and 72 builds. I was going to paint one black after painting my 71 blue. Go figure huh!!

It is true that no one makes a 64 Corvette. The most recent is the Accurate Miniatures Grand Sport but that is not a stock 64. You can start with a 63 and convert it to a 64 with Modelhaus parts. You need the hood and stock wheel covers. Model Car Garage has a photo etch set that has the 64 emblems too. That is what I did with this Roadster. It is much easier to convert the roadster to 64 because the 63 coupe has a split rear window and the c pillar vents are different too. You can also watch Ebay for an annual build up. I am restoring these two that I picked up. The coupe I found at a show and swap meet. I got it for $30.00 just as you see it here. This roadster is also an annual that I got off Ebay. I paid $42 shipped for it with the original box. This is also how I got it. All I can say is be pacient and one will turn up.

Nice job Randy. I really enjoy restoring these old builds. This one freshened up real nice. I too have polished up some of my older builds that did not get BMF. Most are done now.

Need Paint Job Idea's for 67 Charger
Sport Suburban replied to booboo60's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have a chance to buy a real 67 Charger project. I thought it would look good in a two tone met green with a silver top, hood, trunk and the top of the fenders. Lowered with a set of larger 18 wheels.- 15 replies

We have quite a selection of new kits this year. The ones that I have purchased this year but have not started are the Le Ferrari that is a nice kit. The 69 Shelby convertible. I'm looking forward to that one and it looks better than my Mini Exotics resin version that I built. I will be getting the 70 Hemi Cuda and the 56 300B. I'm also looking forward to the 49 mercury woody. My vote would have to go to the 57 ford. I bought the police version and started it. It's going together so nice and I'm enjoying it. So much so that I bought a second police version.
