  1. While I haven't tried what you're proposing, I would say no. Candy colors are clear paint with a little color added. It is then sprayed over a base (color) coat, and the base color coat can be seen underneath the candy color. If you use too many coats of candy color, you will lose the effect of the "candy." I've seen guys spray too many coats of candy red over a base coat, and before long the paint comes out to be maroon instead of candy red. Light coats of candy colors are recommended until you get your desired effect, then STOP painting, other than clear coats. I hope this helps.
  2. I've always used Devcon 5-Minute Epoxy as it dries clear and has a strong bond. I've been usin' this stuff for years.
  3. Usually older and hard to find kits will be on the pricey side, however there are times when a person can get a "steal" on a kit or kits also.
  4. The "rule of thumb" that I use when painting is to use grey primer under black or any silver colors, and white primer under any other colors. This seems to work for me.
  5. I've used Spaz-Stix a few times and never use any clear over it. I'm pleased with the results.
  6. I spray my clear lacquer 24 hours after I have painted the body with lacquer colors, and never have a problem.
  7. I've never used a dehydrator and just let my model car bodies air-dry. This seems to work well for me as I'm not a "fast" builder and I really don't have the room for a dehydrator, or even a spray booth for that matter.
  8. Yes Roger Craig does a good job playing Bond also. Of course Sean Connery was the first Bond and really fit into that role.
  9. Did you use a lacquer clear over the enamel paint, or enamel clear? You can use enamels over lacquers, but not lacquers over enamel.
  10. Oh, I definitely would leave the bill.
  11. The date is Sunday Sept. 24th at the Du Page County Fairgrounds in Wheaton, Illinois.
  12. You're so right Vince, after all if one doesn't like their dinner partner why are they there at all? I know that if I were dating someone and she had spent time lookin' at her iPhone instead of enjoying the night out, I would get up from the table and leave. I know that I'm "old school" but using those phones in certain places is just plain rude.
  13. I have an AMT '60 Chevy Custom Fleetside kit with the 6 cylinder engine available, and still factory sealed. Send me a PM if interested.
  14. Shoot, I should be in Toronto on that day, but only to catch a connecting flight.
  15. Braided line & fittings? Check with Pro Tech.
  16. Yes, no need to paint the whole car white.
  17. I never looked as I bought mine online. I tried them or one of them, and they were okay, nothing more.
  18. I agree, and also the drivers that put on their turn signals right when the get to the intersection. They might as well put it on after they make their turn, that way they'll know where they've been.
  19. Will you be shipping them to my house? LOL! Good luck with the move.
  20. I have a Hobby Lobby 'bout 1/2 mile away, but I rarely go there. I do try and support my local hobby shop which is 10 miles a way and grateful that it's still in business. I'm "old school" and have been going to hobby shops since the 50's.
  21. Welcome to the forum Larry, as this is a great place to be. While I don't really build models of 50's cars, most of my die-casts (Danbury & Franklin Mints) are cars of the 50's. I just love the fins, chrome, the two and triple-tone paint jobs.
  22. Some women drive an automatic with two feet just like a go-kart, so driving a stick shift car would be very hard for them.
  23. You could look at other sources for a color close to what you'd like. I've used Tamiya TS-13 with Dupli-Color, MCW, Testors, and Black Gold paints with great results.
  24. They were for racing, and didn't have the good looks of a Cragar or Keystone wheel.
  25. WOW Tom, that is one SWEEEEET lookin' Deuce!
