  1. Congrats, and good luck with your new job.
  2. He was a great entertainer and a laugh a minute. He had many long years to reach 90, and may he R.I.P.
  3. Testors has Wood in enamel and Leather in acryl and either one of them would work. Unless you're building a roadster or convertible, the wood steering wheel isn't seen that much in a hard top.
  4. I've seen many 1/18th scale die-cast cars I'd like to have, but I just don't have the room. In fact I've been downsizing my 1/24th and 1/25th scale unbuilt kits for the last few years because of this reason also.
  5. I have the AMT/Ertl 1993 edition of the '57 Ford Fairlane 500 kit and it does not have the "boomerang" tail lights either. Bummer!
  6. Wow, pleased again two days in a row. I finished a model today as it's been 'bout a year since I finished the last one. Of course a 6 month hiatus didn't help any either. I hope not to do that again. I need to get off my butt and keep building, as all I really need is more motivation.
  7. I took a 6 month hiatus from building model car kits just last year, and I was sorry that I did as it seems like I'm kinda rusty in working on my current build. Of course it could be the fact that I'm gettin' older as well.
  8. The last or third version is a "crackerbox" boat, and I believe they raced on oval courses and not drag races.
  9. Sorry to hear that Ray, however it is your choice. May I suggest not to sell everything you have and just put it aside. In 1990 (?) I got out of the hobby and sold everything with the exception of a few built models. Yep in '98 I got back into it and had to start all over again and hopefully I'm in it for life. Good luck cobraman.
  10. I still have mine in my "stash" still sealed and waiting to be built, like a lot of other kits I have collected over the years.
  11. VERY nice build on that Coronet Adam, as I just love dem Mopars!
  12. Thanks Gregg, as I shall try to attend.
  13. What pleased me today was that I had my annual eye-exam and everything is good, and my better half is celebrating her 12 year anniversary of non-smoking. Yay!
  14. You would display your models, check out the many other models, talk to other modelers that you know or meet new ones. We have a giant raffle, you can hear some great tunes over the PA system, you can check out the club displays, you can go out for a bite to eat as there's plenty of restaurants very close by, you can vote on some of the few classes of models, you can photograph some of the models, you can get ideas for some of your future builds, there will be announcements at the very end of the show with some (few) awards given. I don't think that you'll be bored.
  15. Glad that you enjoyed it as we were happy to see you guys there. Hopefully I'll get back to San Juan someday.
  16. Bring some models to display, you'll be glad you did and that you were a part of the NNL instead of a just a spectator.
  17. TIME waits for no one, as we all have an expiration date. We just don't know when it is. I thank the Lord for everyday as I try not to take anything for granted anymore. I'm also grateful that my parent's health issues didn't linger on as my dad was gone in a weeks time, and my mom in two weeks. Some people suffer for weeks, months, and even years before they pass. The future in not for us to see, as we must live it from day to day.
  18. That's a great idea, of course I already finished the interior the other day and installed it in my current build. I'll have to use that idea in my upcoming build.
  19. VERY sad news today, however Harry's battle is over and may he now rest in peace. Condolences and prayers go out to his family.
  20. That Portillo's beef sandwich is the best, and I'll have to go there soon as I haven't been there since last week. The crappy weather is par for this time of the year.
  21. I always use white primer under all the colors I spray except when I'm spraying black or a silver color, then I use grey primer. I also use as little paint as I can to avoid "paint build up" which tends to hide emblems, scripts, moldings, etc. Usually I'll spray one or two light coats of primer, then 24 hours later I'll spray two light color coats followed by a "wet" color coat. And 24 hours later I'll spray two light clear coats, followed by a "wet" clear coat. I allow 20 minutes "flash time" between coats, so it takes me approximately 45 minutes total time to spray my color coats or my clear coats. This method works for me.
  22. Wish you could make the show also Mike, but such is life.
  23. After being in a three car wreck in the fall of '69, I needed a new car as the old one was totaled. I wanted a Mopar and that's what I got, a brand new '69 Dodge Super Bee. That car could fly and got me in trouble a few times. I still have the paperwork on it from the sale, but I really shoulda kept the car instead. I'm still a big Mopar fan even though I like all cars, especially American cars.
  24. Please don't talk like that on the forum as you make me hungry. Glad you had a great birthday dinner, and I hope your birthday tomorrow is great as well, with many more to come.
