  1. The " Electronic Age" and internet sales have been the main cause of hobby shops disappearing all over the country.

    Way 2 Fast

Congrats, and all it takes is one vote to win. Nice job on that build.
  3. I'm already "stocked up" Ben and Greenfield is 50 miles from my house. A few years ago when gas prices were reasonable, I used to love driving up to the "Empire" and Greenfield just to checkout what they have and also stop at Hooters on Layton for a bite as well. Well the Hooters has been gone for awhile and now Greenfield will be gone as well. SAD news.
  4. While we didn't get any snow to speak of in December which was great, it IS snowing now and looks like I'll have to get dressed later and do "Sno Command" or snow removal. Looking on the bright side is that Spring is only 11 weeks away.
  5. Good to see all of you at the meeting last night, and really sorry to hear the BAD news that Greenfield News & Hobby is closing its doors soon, as that has been one of my FAVE hobby shops for a long time.
  6. NONE, however that doesn't mean that I won't buy any unfortunately.
  7. VERY nice builds. Guess I've been busy this year myself, as I only finished two builds also. Hopefully 2015 will be more productive.
  8. I finally got around to watching my DVD Snake & Mongoo$e as I've had it for 'bout 6 months now. Not an academy award winner, but not bad either.
  9. I don't go to the Laundromat and do my laundry at home. I DON'T want anymore magazine subscriptions even if they're FREE.
  10. Congrats and good luck with your new ride Bill.
  11. I collect and read car magazines from the 60's and today's magazines leave a lot to be desired, at least for me. I wouldn't want today's magazines delivered to my house even if they were FREE. Besides, I don't have room for anymore piles of magazines either.
  12. Do you honestly think that they would SELL enough Volkswagen kits to even break even???
  13. I've used Spaz-Stix Mirror Chrome from a spray can on plastic and resin parts with good results. Of course I primed the parts and then used Krylon Short Cuts Black before the Spaz-Stix.
  14. I still have a '37 Chevy kit in my "stash" so I really don't know if I'll get another or not, especially at the rate that I build.
  15. I would check with Competition Resins for a driver if I were lookin'.
  16. I have a Hobby Lobby 'bout 1/2 mile from the house and they have a decent selection of kits, paints, and tools. I did stop at Michael's a couple of weeks ago, and not only is there hobby department a wreck, the store itself seemed crammed with stuff. I definitely like Hobby Lobby better, however I do try to support my local hobby shops often. Back in the 50's & 60's there was an abundance of hobby shops, but the world is changin' and the "electronic age" and online shopping has killed most of the hobby shops in this country. Once they're gone, they'll NEVER be back, so think 'bout supporting your local hobby shop.
  17. Have you checked with Chief Joseph at Firebird Designs?
  18. So did the grocery stores "jack up" their prices as well. Everybody's got to make a living.
  19. I've known Dean Milano for many years now as we used to belong to the same model car club back in the 70's. Dean also had an awesome model car and toy museum that was open to the public, that was just amazing as well. Dean is an excellent car modeler to say the least.
  20. There was plenty to talk about Carl, I mean snow that is. I'll never forget it as I was living on the NW side of Chicago at the time.
  21. There was plenty to talk about Carl, I am referring to snow as it seemed like no end.
  22. The Blizzard of '79 was NO match for the Snow of '67 where I was lucky enough to get my car home, and walked or hitched a ride to work for the next few days.
