I personally like Black Gold's Kandy Basecoat Pagen Gold and it is compatable with Testors Lacquer.

I use masking tape as seat belt material. I cut in wide enough to go through the photo-etched buckels and then thread it through and fold it over in the back. I then lay it on a piece of waxed paper and paint it the color I have chosen. When dry I peel them off and place them on the seats and I usually put a dab of epoxy under the buckle and also the other end of the belt so they NEVER come loose.

Organize, what's that? I keep most of my spare parts in labeled clear plastic drawers, some in shoe boxes, two shoe boxes filled with aftermarket parts, and decals in a 3-ring binder. I usually have a good idea where to find what I need if I have it.

Guitar string is pretty cheap to begin with, like in the neighborhood of a dollar for each size.

Andy, seeing as how this year's show was a "nationnal" event is the reason both Jim Wangers and "the farmer" where there. Next years show will be back to the Cruzin' Tigers Car Club "indian Uprising" meet and may be iffy if either of them show up, although it could happen. If you want Jim to autograph your book badly enough you could always ship it to him and pay for the return shipping also. Otherwise you'll have to depend on "luck" as to whether you see him again or not.

Yes the larger decals and colored glass only comes with the tin kit.

Yes, those were GOOD times and I really enjoyed them. I got out of model cars for most of the 90's and got rid of all my stuff. That will NEVER happen again!

Yeah I'm sure it was him in the late 70's or early 80's before he had any tatts. I used to help run the model car contest for Tom at the Holiday Inn along with Craig.

I've seen some of your work firsthand at a couple of shows in Toledo years back and all I can say is that '59 Chevy will be lookin' real sweeeeeet when you're done. I just know it!

Nice build on that Ranchero but it would never qualify as a gasser.

Wally Mart might as well stock model kits as they're from China also along with most other items they carry.

Your build is lookin' good so far and I've been contiplating on starting one of those '37 Chevy gassers myself.

I picked it up last week and "flipped" through it and it looks good.

I used to be in a model car club in Chicago with Voodoo Larry back in the late 70's. It was called The Old Town Escorts and was founded by Tom LIma Jr. & Ron Merkel. Larry is a good guy and very talented when it comes to working on cars, pinstripping, and music. I also heard that he still builds model cars occasionally too.

Go to a music store and you'll find ALL the guitar string that you could ever use. Get a # 12 or 13 string and it should work good for antennas and I also use it for "pinning" small parts such as side view mirrors, etc.

Everyday 3M masking tape works fine for a lot of two toned paint jobs. After the first color and masking, one NEEDS to spray a light coat of CLEAR along the tape edges BEFORE spraying the second color. That way if there's ANY bleeding, it will be clear and NOT your second color.

Nice job on that buggy as it looks great. In fact I just sold a red metalflake Manx kit today at a swap meet today.

I've "mixed & matched" primers, colors, and clears with no problems so far. And I just "wing it" with NO spoon tests.
