  1. Great build, Jason! Like the colour choice. Very sharp.
  2. Welcome back to model car building, Larry. You should check out NNL Detroit. Info should be available in the contest area here on the forum. Many great vendors there and some nice eye candy (model car builds) to check out too. Edit: Here is the flyer: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=63740
  3. Great work, Richard. Keep building those hot rods! And welcome to the forum.
  4. That was my reaction as well. We are inundated with sports channels (at least here in Canada we are). Speed was the only dedicated to automobiles. Perhaps it was far from perfect but I would rather Chop, Cut Rebuild and the like than another stupid hockey, baseball, football, socker or golf game! I have no use for traditional sports and like you pay extra to get Speed, now I'm stuck with another stupid sports channel.
  5. Was nursing assistant in Mental Health facility for 14 years. Worked my way down the ladder to become a driver in the transportation department of the same facility for the past 17 years. Drive a Freightliner box truck to move food, laundry, meds and other supplies throughout the campus.
  6. Sweet Ferrari! Great colour choice.
  7. Love it! Beautiful build. Great vintage hot rod.
  8. I love it when I actually know the answer for a change!
  9. Good luck guys! Not going to be there this year. Hope all goes well and everyone has a great time.
  10. Wow! Chuck! You did some realistic weathering to that Dodge truck.
  11. Everyone does it differently. Some guys drag the same models out year after year. Most shows won't accept them if they've won something the year before. The view I've heard most often is the model being on the 'circuit' for a year so in other words your 48 would retire in time for next year's Wing Nut con.
  12. Very nice. Great job on this road racer.
  13. Very cool rod! Like the choice of paint colours.
  14. Wowzers! That is very good Chuck. Definitely a basket case of a fixer upper.
  15. I don't know. The more I look at it, I think you could start with a shuttle kit from the original Star Trek. Put wheels on it and a big plastic front windshield and you're almost there.
  16. Looks very authentic. Nice job on this build.
  17. Lookin' good! Love those early Nissan Rally cars. Job well done.
  18. Great work, Matt! I have those two as well as the new Mini sitting in queue. Have worked on the Mini. I find detail a bit soft as well as the plastic as I try to eliminate mold lines. Anyway fantastic Jag and Aston!
  19. That is extremely well done. I've always loved these little Beetle Campers. You did this one proud. Love all the details and the carpeting inside. Well done. I can't see the license plate clearly. Is it a West Virginia plate?
  20. For me the difference in scale is only important, if as Tom alluded to above, one is considering doing a diorama. If the different scales are displayed together in what is supposed to be a coherent scheme, the differant scales could destroy the illusion one is attempting to create. It wouldn't look good if a Mustang were bigger than the four door sedan police cruiser that had pulled it over. But if it's just for the display shelf well then.... meh.... doesn't matter to me as long as the subject is interesting.
  21. Ooohh! I have that book. I've had it for years! This is the first time I've seen another one. Cool book and you're right I would love to see the others in this series.
  22. That's real cool, Neal! Though I'm afraid the headers might set the wood sides on fire!
  23. Very cool! Like the weathering done here as well. Crusty ol' rod.
  24. Ron, that's exactly what I thought when I saw it. It looks like a lightning rod from the top of a barn or old house.
  25. That is a really neat take on a Matador. Well done, sir!
