  1. Very nice work on the engines. Very clean work.
  2. Thanks for the information all. I'm surprised that Revell didn't offer the roadster with the fender option.
  3. Thanks Tom. Definitely a lot of factors to be consider when reissuing. kits. Although I'm sure that if there are molds in reasonable shape that an effort to use them will be made if it makes financial sense.
  4. For the out of production kits the main reason that they have not been reissued if that tooling has either been scrapped or the tooling was modified for another version. In either case the subject has to have a broad appeal to justify either recreating or modifying existing tooling.
  5. The problem was the roadster body was the same for right and left which prevented the fender option from working. I had heard that was way the full fender option was not available on the roadster.
  6. It was my understanding that there was an issue with the Revell 1932 Ford roadster and using the fender option. I thought that it was a mismatch between sides. I am in the process of doing a full fendered 3 window and tried the roadster and it didn't look like there was an issue. Does anyone have any more information on what the issue was? Thanks in advance.
  7. This is definitely progress. At this point fine tuning is necessary for this outstanding project. Always a pleaseure each step of this wonderous journey.
  8. An additional thought. The person packing the orders job is to put those items in a box. Its not their job to question if those are the right parts . In addition if they try to do that they won't be rewarded for diligence they will be told they aren't doing their job.
  9. Cool. Very creative. Functional art. Definitely a conversation piece.
  10. Nice touch with the records and record player.
  11. No impact on collector market as it does not change the number of original kits available. It will impact value of rebuilders becuase why go to hassle of dismantling and rebuild.
  12. Lots of good points. Welcome to how business is done today. Unfortunately it not all of the fault of those filling orders or customer service. In the case of a big auto parts the warehouse workers depend on the computer to tell them which bins to pull parts from. Customer service is something that's a good marketing point but the least amount of money is paid for providing it. There's also a good chance that the job is outsourced. Another failure stems from incoming parts inspection. If that is done poorly then wrong or substandard parts make it into the system. The focus is to get the parts into the warehouse as soon as possible. Finally when problems do occur a root cause needs to be done to prevent the problem from occuring ing the future. Again another task that is considered an unnecessary expense. Boils down to how cheaply can things be done.
  13. I remember the episode. Berguss Meridith was a bank teller who loved to read. His lunch habit was to read in the bank vault. One day ww3 came. When he ventured out he found he was the only one. He finds the library and finds all the books he wanted to read and then he breaks his glasses. The ultimate nightmare. And yes Snake he went on to play the penguin in the original Batman TV series.
  14. I haven't bought any new kits in 3 or 4 years. Been thinning out some kits where I know they just won't be built. But still have a sizeable stash of unbuilt kits of parts to last several life times. In regards to collection buyers. Fifty percent is actually reasonable. They are going to have costs of business plus it depends how long it takes to move the kits. An unsold kit means there money thats sitting on the shelf. If you sell your kits yourself you will have costs also. If its a show you have the cost of travel, food, gas, and lodging. Plus your time. In the end you have to decide what works the best for you.
  15. Nicely done. Cool concept. Its always fun to turn a pile of parts into something. An impressive beast.
  16. Wow. Outstanding work. Cool design. Great craftsmanship.
  17. I ended up with a lumpy mess. An absutd amount of clear would have been needed and would have had been way too thick.
  18. Dennis that is beautiful. Those vintage dragsters are cool. Definitely has the right look.
  19. Nicely done. A fitting tribute to your friend. There was a lot of work done and it would have been a shame to go unfinished. I'm curious how did you overcome that keep the car fr8m being completed.
  20. Nice work so far. I think your choice for the front is perfect. I think the front looks better with the gremlin grill rather than the j2000. In the rear the changes work well with the rest of the car. Keep up the good work.
  21. True. Some of the complaints have merit. Thats how the NNL got such a great following. No matter how an award is determined by judging or vote there is always going to be a complaint. In my opinion the fewer the awarda the better. And from my experience no matter how hard you try some things don't always work as intended. And when someone thinks its appropriate to say don't bother to do it if you don't get it right is unjustified and is infair to those who made the event happen. There is a right and wrong way to provide constructive criticism.
  22. I agree. First off putting on a show takes a lot of work whatever the format. Its disrespectful behavior such as this that kills the interest in putting a show. Obviously winning awards is more important to some rather than having a good time contrary to whats been said by some people. If awards are actually not a big thing then just accept the results. If you find the results that offensive then maybe a tactful letter to those running the show offering constructive criticism. They might be able to fix the problem however its a short coming of the popular vote awards system. Its just plain rude and short sighted to condemn the ACME group for a popular vote issue. Thank them for the effort put for for the show. Even if the results are not right be a gracious loser and get over it!
