Exactly. Not all errors are bad measurements some are shape errors which need to be tweaked. Those errors are caused by interpretation of photos and not necessarily measurement errors. Second there is no way to know what caused the error on the windshield for the jaguar. An incorrect original measurement is one possibility.

First off the kits that have been done with scanning have come out spot on. Second not all older kits were 100 percent correct.some were better than others. I seriously doubt that the wooden masters were perfect and a fair amount of wood filler was used to get it right. I see it as a fine tuning to get the product right. There is simply not the budget to afford the fine tuning in the past. Every process has its shortcomings. Its not necessarily that someone is not doing their job. I'm just saying you have to look at the whole picture. Its not just a case that someone isn't doing their job in all cases.

We can agree that a majority of the buyers don't care or notice the defects. My first question is there money in the development budget to fix the issue. Is the money spent going to make an significant impact on sales? Every project has a budget which has to be meet to make a product viable. If that budget is exceeded money will be lost. Lower kit volumes mean that there is less money to be spent. It also means we are going to get good enough. We have to decide if that is something we would buy.

"correct" scale for new releases
bobthehobbyguy replied to Motor City's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I agree its always about the subject matter. Twenty-fourth and Twenty-fifth scales have been around for a long time. Besides those scales there was always the infamous box scale to deal with(cars were scaled to fit a standard box size). As said correct is a matter of opinion. -
Thanks Matt Bacon for the comparison shots. To me the differences were unnoticeable until I looked at the comparison pictures and read the text. I would definitely buy one despite the issue. Most buying the kit aren't going to even see or care about the issue. Those that care about the difference have to decide to buy and fix or not buy. Its as simple as that.

Model A or Deuce Coupe ?

The 32 for certain despite the fact that the A spanned several years. -
The thing is cheap isn't always the most cost effective way to do things. Case in point. Henry Ford was paying his workers as little as possible however he discovered that the employee turnover was costing more than being saved by cheap wages because new employees had to be trained. Paying the workers more resulted in a savings. Unfortunately those who run the companies aren't smart enough to figure that out.

The problem is the mantra today is how cheaply goods and services be provided. That new design of equipment should be better but it was done as cheaply as possible. Whether it works right is secondary. The worst thing is the constant push to either take people out of the system or put someone in a chair that can only read a script. I do not see things getting better I can only see them getting worse.

Well he better like looking at it. He certainly isn't going to boat in it in a lake, at least not for very long. -
Mercedes Outlaws & Hot Rods
bobthehobbyguy replied to 89AKurt's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The story I read was this had an early candy paint job which did not age well. The flames were done to hide blotches. No doubt it drove purists nuts. But hey it was only paint the car had not been altered. Me I think its cool.- 130 replies

bobthehobbyguy replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Some trends are for looks. In this case the trend was started by someone who wanted to put more tire on the car but didn't want to cut up the wheel wells. It solved the problem but at the expense of handling. Others copied the design and it started a trend. The guy that built this car liked the look and built his version. Despite the short comings that's what he wanted. -

I think that thread is gone. No doubt this will if it becomes another donk thread. Do we need to rehash this again? -

I'm not surprised that the car in the first post is a recreation I don't remember seeing them running around with wheelie bars. Just goes to show not all trends are based on practicality. I've seen jacked up 4x4s that are so high I have no clue how they get in or out. Oh well to each his own. -

Must have been a real challenge to drive. No corning ability. On the bright side they did have to hack up the rear wheel wheels. -

DeAgostini 1/8 1967 Shelby GT 500....Update! 2/5/19

Wow that is big. Your changes make a big difference. Are you going to chack the electronics before you route all the wires. -
Nice start. One tip. Test fit the body to the fenders with the interior piece I've had issues with the fit of the rear fenders because the interior piece is too tall and needs a bit of triming.

Coming along nicely. Love the flames.
