  1. With the model companies have limited staff and production budgets doing some research will go a lot further than I want to see this as a kit. Your research needs to show how many varients can be made. Is there a tie in with nascar or drag racing? The more information the better.
  2. This explains why the model companies couldn't leverage off the tri fifties chevies.
  3. Seems to me that this might have a lot of potential. If it were able to be done to provide multiple variations it would fit the basic requirement for toolong kits these days. A well written proposal would go a long way to making it happen. Definitelyseems like something Mobieus might do.
  4. Definitely a lot of quality builds. From ultra nice box stock to over the top scratchbuilt projects. All these are a wealth of information and techniques. Coming onto the site is like going to the nnl everyday of the week. Being able to watch in progress builds allows me to learn a variety of techniques. Plus the tutorials provided in the tips and techniques. We are fortunate to have such a resource.
  5. Love it. Another great looking hot rod.
  6. Nicely done. The two tone really looks great.
  7. Cool concept. Could see this as something to go for the Ridler at the Detroit autorama. Lots of inovation. Well excuted model.
  8. I doubt at this point that anyone will buy the business. Holthaus had a few possibles but nobody pulled the trigger. Its a large commitment to take over the business for one it would be a full time job. Second it takes a special skill set to run the operation. All of this means there is a limited market for possible buyers.
  9. Absolutely killer. So subtle but packs a wallop.
  10. Great idea. You always manage to come up with some interesting projects. Will be following.
  11. Love it. Great project.
  12. Unfortunately there is is plenty of greed and stupidity to go around. There are far to many governments failing to help the people they answer to. People have the right to be healthy and shouldn't have to worry about having enough found on their table. The people that are essential to keeping everything seem to be treated the worst. The system will collapse without those people.
  13. In his original proposal Steve was going to teach himself the 3d software so he could you a 3d printer to test the files. Not sure how that wS going to make it to injection molds. Considering 500 presale kits at $50 each would only yield about $25,000. Considering the typical kit costs $250,000 to produce there seems to be a bit of a short fall.
  14. My thoughts and prayers go to you and your wife. Be strong through these difficult times.
  15. I stand by my words. Harping on the problems of the past serve no useful function at this time. I agree that we need a print magazine and to support it.
  16. Cool. Reminds me of the days when Budd Anderson did conversions like this (I think it was car modeler magazine).
  17. Impressive. Great concept. Something I would expect to be done by Rad Rods by Troy or maybe Posies. Definitely different.
  18. Love it. Nice variation of the double dragster kit. Cool project.
  19. As I see it, it's easy to find reasons why this will fail. However if you find reasons for failure it can only give you the satisfaction to say see I told you it would fail. Me I hope that this is the start to getting the magazine back on track. There are plenty of hurdles to jump over at this point.
  20. Thanks for heads up. Thanks for your time keeping this site running smoothly.
  21. Going after him in court will only cost you money. If he had money he would have used it to move from Hawaii and create his kits. Also he had said he would refund your money if requested. Something that would have to be attempted and documented that he was unwilling to pay before you could iniate legal action. Besides he never ever set a hard date for completion its always been when its done it'll ship from day one. More likely everyone that placed orders is out of luck. Chalk it up to experience.
  22. I won't speculate on what his intentions have been with the proceeds from this project. However it was doomed from the start. His initial proposal was vague in how going to achieve getting model done. I suspect his initial price of $40 was pulled out of thin air. He intially was suppose to do plastic kits but he was unable to get his injection machine to work. More recently he has talked about doing the model with a 3d printer he is going to purchase. Besides the fact he will need to generate the 3d files. Printing 500 kits on a 3d printer will be a slow process. Doing the initial master might work with a 3d printer but he's painted himself into a corner. He has already said that a resin version was unacceptable. The fastest way to doom any project is not to sufficiently plan for how you going to achieve your goals.
  23. Again it serves no purpose to pass on speculation on your part. Your statement on on the number of issues was wrong and a little investigation would have shown that. Now you are speculating on what content is available for the magazine without knowing the facts. The job ahead to get the magazine back on track is hard enough. Don't make that task harder by not making factual statements.
  24. That is not factually correct. Iwsue 206 was 11/7/19 Issue 205 was 2/18/18 Issue 204 was 8/21/17 My expectation of 2 issues is based on the fact the magazine is suppose to be printed 6 times a year..
  25. I think that the paradigm for printed magazines as we know it are going away. Printing 10 of thousands of magazines to distrubute is expensive. High volumes allow higher advertising rates to help pay the costs. In the current environment it is difficult for a a low magazine. Larger volumes allow web presses to be used which decreases the cost of printing. For low volume niches magazine on demand printing seems to be a more viable option. Its more expensive but it has a better chance of being sustainable. Finally is the issue of where to see the magazines. How many hobby shops are going to be able tovweather the storm from the virus? Second I think Barnes and Noble are on borrowed time. Almost half of the store is dedicated to selling toys, games and calenders. I don't see how that is going to really sell, if anything it just creates a larger footprint to pay rent for. One possibilty might be to get hobby lobby to sell MCM. Just a thoight.
