AMT727 Koo-Koo-Kar… has it come yet?
bobthehobbyguy replied to funnycarfan's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I just can't see that putting money into tooling for stage Ghost makes no sense. Round2 and Atlantis both have much better things to put their resources into. And those projects will just have a better return. If anything maybe one of the 3d printers could offer a body for the Stage Ghost. Although not sure what that might entail for licensing. -
Ollie's strike again
bobthehobbyguy replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If the price is $20 maybe Ollie's feel they were leaving money on the table. It will definitely curb those who buy the kits to resell. And they are still cheaper than the going rate. -
Before plastic injected models a modeler carved their creation from a block of wood.

Doubt we'd see a reissue of the Charger 3 as it was modified into the Flying Dutchman funny car. -
Does anyone know what time it is?

Quite frankly I think the Pyro hot rods would have a much broader appeal. -

The old showcase are a fun build. However besides a limited audience another issue I see is that there just not a lot of other things you can do with them. Case in point the AMT Infini-t. The t body lends itself to a hot rod. In fact in a recent build someone did one in the style of the uncertain T. As far as the stage Ghost there would be potential to do it as a hot rod with a different body. On the negative side it is 1/16th scale and will cost more. -

Yeah $250 is an eye watering price. However when you take into consideration it's an original sealed kit it is more than likely a collector will be the market. Not sure that would translate into enough sales. -

Have think these showcars have a limited appeal. It is my understanding that a minimum run is five thousand. There are certain costs as far as setup for production, box art and boxes, and decals that are involved I don't think that they expect to sell an entire run for something like this but I'm sure that a certain number need to be sold to make it worthwhile. If that doesn't happen then it's not worth making them. -
Unfortunately not all judges are that knowledgeable. It's one of the reasons the NNL format has become so popular. You did a great job on this. You can take pride in a great model.

Good questions. In Dave's comments it sounded like there are other issues besides the react and page button issues. It would be helpful to get further clarification on those issues. Dave had also stated that he felt that there were some things he might be able to do to help the situation. At this point a little information would be helpful. Has it been concluded that only an update is going to fix this. Granted this is going to take time but a little more information will go a long way to reduce the on going frustration with the board functionality issues. -
On the subject of the whitetails. I know Tim Boyd did shoot clear on the tires before adding the decals. Maybe he could confirm if that prevented the tire interaction you experienced.

Absolutely love it. Great color choices.

Whatever the issue is it seems to be interfering with how the buttons are funstion--react, page advance. So issues with the save topic are also in that realm. -
Bottom line the hobby is suppose to be fun and enjoyable. There are lots of ways to do things and you will have to find what works for you. Hopefully you will post your current build. When you do if you want constructive criticism ask for it(you really need to ask as many will be hesitant to comment otherwise) . It will help you improve the things you want to improve. It takes time to develop your skills. We get get better with practice and that happens with each build.

That's a given. There is no knowing when the break-through will come about. Hopefully it won't take that long.
