  1. First off you have to consider the target for these models. They were were built for kids to be built and played with. They were also used as sales aids for selling full size cars. By the criterion here on the Corvette many of the Johan kits would be considered junk because of their simplified nature. That is far from the truth. Just look at Steven Guthmiller's fabulous coronet which merged the body with suitable modern production parts. For the most part the older kits have fidelity to the original bodies that isn't always achieved in modern kits. However there are kits that are junk. Palmer is one infamous case. Modeling is an experience which varies for everyone. Chose that experience and research the models to fit that expectation. With the internet that information is widely availble.
  2. What casting material and mold making material do you use?
  3. No the resin is cured and can't be uncured. Plastic is melted and waste can be reused. Two different processes.
  4. Nicely done. Shows what can be done with a little effort. Definitely not a "junk" kit.
  5. Coming along nicely.
  6. I have to agree with others I don't see its worth the risk of using baking powder or other organic materials.
  7. What an amazing project. Lots of mind boggling work here.
  8. Another amazing update of this masterpiece.
  9. Very nicely done. It came out great. You definitely achieved your TV goal with a fine looking model. If you decide to do another challenge I would suggest setting the goal in hours. I suggest forty hours. If you complete in a shorter time frame great. Record the hours and sessions for the build.
  10. With the Internet its really easy to see what's in the box before you buy. As said some kits take more work to get a good finished product. It all depends in how much effort you want to out into it.
  11. Amazing work. Impressive to see it in "bare metal". Very clean work. Stunning craftsmanship.
  12. Unbelievably stupid. If they had sold it before totally destroying the poor car they would have gotten some decent money. Makes one wonder how they can manage to walk and breathe at the same time.
  13. Definitely time for all those that called for the cornet to vote with their walletsl. Same goes for the bronco everyone wants new kits and here is one.
  14. First off my condolences on your uncle. Although you are frustrated with your build pace I can say without a doubt that it would take most of us a lot longer to achieve what you've done so far. Looking forward to seeing this artistic masterpiece finished. Know I will enjoy the next project you start.
  15. Looks like one more day and it will be finished. 10 days is still a good time frame. Issues with paint can always slow progress but you managed to overcome them. You've done some nice clean work in a short period of time. Be curious what total build time is. Hope you try another challenge again. I'm definitely going to do one myself.
  16. An interesting challenge. Coming along nicely.
  17. If its what I think happened we just need to be patient.
  18. I hope for a rapid recovery for you snake45. Looking forward to your return.
  19. Just saw snake logged in about 2 hours ago but left no messages.
  20. Really like the revised hood scoop. Definitely suits the car well. Looking forward to seeing more.
  21. Ouch you could definitely end up with an expensive paper weight if the subscription company fails.
