I have the original Mod Rod issue and "new" version Ala Kart and combining the two with some scratch work and aftermarket parts should yield a decent result. I even have a couple of sets of Fred Cady's decals for this. But, getting ready to close up the model shop until after the move. BTW, I also have the Franklin Mint Ala Kart.
Door cards are door panels. Door cards is the designation usually used in Britain, et al. Sometimes used here. Watch Wheeler Dealers and you will hear it a lot.
If it isn't, then I'm sorry. I didn't see it as I was working the indoors to do the photos of the models. I bought some of Bob's paints, but didn't see this. I guess we'll find out. Blowing up the photo does seem to imply a separate hood, but the resolution is too low to get a better idea
Dave Metzner can obviously confirm, but I was told at the GTR NNL on the 7th that these were on the boat and headed to the US. Bob's paint had the box art model on display and GTR President Joel Peters took a photo of it:
Regardless of what you do, you like likely mar the paint in some manner if the decals adhered well. If you applied over a clear coat, you should be able to buff it out. If you have a clear coat over the decal as well, it will be a lot messier.
You have the US variant. I wound up with the RoG version and know where to look at their website to get the downloads since I discarded the used instructions
Interesting!?! It almost looks like some accommodation they made for mounting to the hubs and trailing links. Wonder how much is hidden when assembled?
I built mine over a year ago, so no instructions. But, if you are talking the 1/24 version, it is tree A, per the Revell of Germany instructions http://www.revell.de/fileadmin/import/images/bau/07399_%23BAU_VW_T1_SAMBA_BUS.PDF
I stopped at Bridgetown in June 2013 when we were out trying to decide on where to move back to. Mike had already retired and I was told there was a new owner, but stock was diminished. Didn't look good. I think they closed about a year later. Tammie's has a web site, and they don't show Zero Paints. But you could contact them to see if they have any (which I doubt, as I believe there is only one US supplier). http://www.tammieshobbies.com/collections/paint
