  1. Very true. Simply put , yes , the model kit companies could add more accuracy if they really wanted to. But , guess what; the price of the kit will go up. That kit that was $24.99 that is reproduced with more accuracy, builders would be paying at least $40 or more for that kit. So, what happens , people will be crying about having to pay more money for the kit. On the other spectrum, the military modelers spend much more money on their kits because of the level of accuracy that those builders demand. That's why there is so much more offered because builders are willing to pay for it.
  2. Totally agree. Already bashing this kit. Accurate vs non accurate proportions, etc. Just like a record; round and round we go.
  3. Round 2 needs to look into doing the MPC 69 Coronet R/T convertible.
  4. BY Casey: Look closer at the images, and don't assume the O.P.'s "back in the day" comment is rooted in fact: To clarify, I didn't assume anything. I've seen this pic before. It was a valid question.
  5. Anyone know if that car is still around?
  6. From my opinion the Revell 68 and 69 Chargers are great kits. The chassis is very good on those as well as the other parts. The Panther Pink Revell 70 Charger R/T in is a good kit but has a lousy chassis. The way the wheels go on, the the front suspension parts are no that good. The way to approach the 70 kit chassis is to utilze the chassis from thr 68 or 69 and use the 70 Charger front end suspension parts.
  7. The early 90's version of the AMT 69 Dodge Daytona kit came with all the parts to do a 69 Charger 500. I bought 2 kits at the time and built both versions. I do not know if the later versions of the 69 Daytona came with the Charger 500 parts. If you can find an early 90's issue of the Daytona kit that will have everything you need to do a Charger 500.
  8. The last line says it all. Now that Round 2 and Atlantis is going in the direction of redoing or creating new tooling for subjects we have not seen in over 50 years, we'll see more old kit dealers liquidating and rethinking a new direction for them.
  9. Wanted to ask where others are getting decal paper from. I've seen decal paper at Hobby Lobby. Don't know how good it is. Also, what about putting a coating of clear enamel or clear laquer to keep the ink from running?
  10. I someone privately doing this issue like Model King does? 500 is a very small amount.
  11. Nuts or not someone bought this 68 Coronet Feverbee kit for over $900. 1969 MPC #706-300 Dodge Feverbee Funny Car Model Kit MIB Complete Canadian Rare See original listing Condition: Used Ended: Nov 09, 2020 , 11:00PM Winning bid: US $935.52 [ 20 bids ] Shipping: $9.99 Expedited Shipping Item location: Conway, Arkansas, United States Seller: bgasaway71i5 (3065 ) | Seller's other items
  12. Both the Challenger and Mustang model never sold. Seller relisted them.
  13. Both are great looking builds. I like the second more because of the regular steel wheels in back.
  14. Very true. There is that purist out there that will pay the bucks for this kit.
  15. I seen this sort of thing happen on and off. I remember the mint in box, sealed MPC 68 Coronet that went and sold for over $1000 on ebay back about 9 months ago. Nothing really different with this original, sealed box Challenger kit. The owner can can put any price on it and someone out there will buy it for that price. It's his kit, he can put any price he wants on it. As time goes on , we will be seeing more of this happening with these virgin , mint in box kits out there.
  16. I agree. People will still complain. Just like the record player. Round and round.
  17. Maybe Dave Burkett, The Model King could confirm this. Does he frequent this board?
  18. Yes, the truck comes with the wedge. I contacted Round 2 about 2 months ago asking that question. They stated the kit will consist of the long bed truck and wedge. Excellant news I think.
  19. To add , this is great news . For years the naysayers in the model car hobby have been saying " no ,we will never see that subject come out again because the model car companies will not invest monies to fix damaged tooling or even do whole new tooling for that matter." Well, after all these years, they were wrong. We are now seeing new tooling done of old subjects from back in the day.
  20. Yes, it is a good way to widen the audience. However, I initially started the topic in the General section. Went back a day later , but could not find the thread. That's why I started the post again in this forum.
  21. Well, I am out alot. I am very well aware the model aircraft hobby has been popular for many years. That's how I started. We have a lot of locals down here in Florida that have been building cars for years and within the last couple their tastes have been more into building planes. Just an observation and seeing if others on this board are noticing this as well.
  22. In our model car club I've noticed a few members getting into model aircraft building. Also, I'm starting to see on model building sites more aircraft kits being bought and sold. Is anyone else noticing this trend? Right now it's the best of times for model car builders with all the oldies from the 60's and 70's being re-released. Also, it's interesting seeing more aircraft on contest tables as well. Is this shift a temporary phase or will we see more of it?
  23. I've noticed in our model car club that some of our members are getting into model aircraft building. Anyone else noticing this in their club. I'm also starting to see more aircraft and military kits being bought and sold on some of the model car selling sites on FB. Anyone else noticing this trend where they are at? Is this a temporary phase or are we seeing a gradual move away from model car building?
  24. Well said. I am one of those that likes discussing old ideas and topics. It usually brings in new information from those that are reading these topics for the first time.
  25. I beleive you hit the nail in the head. In short, you have to adapt to the changing market conditions.
