I understand your desire to see the MPC 71 Roadrunner Runner kit again. Through the years I would write letters to Round 2 about resurrecting the MPC 68 Dodge Coronet R/T. I stated that this subject could be done in different versions. Stock, Nascar (#99 Paul Goldsmith Car) and a Dick Landy drag version. I've also written to Revell on this same subject. They do a 67' Coronet R/T and not a 68 Coronet R/T. I guess I will never understand why the 67 was chosen over the 68 Coronet. Would love to see the market research on that. I think you are onto something when you stated that they never wanted to redo the 71 Roadrunner because the they wanted to push the 74 over the 71. Think about it; if you were with that company in product developement wouldn't you try to push for some of your favorite subjects to be released. I know I would. But, who knows what the real reason was. Now that we have Moebius and Salvino's; maybe we all can write to them requesting for the 71 Roadrunner or 68 Dodge Coronet R/T kits. This is a perfect time for them because they are consantly developing new kits. Lastly, you mentioned about contacting Round 2 to do a release. Find out what it would cost for them to do a limited run, say 5000 kits of the 71 Roadrunner. Then try to raise money for the venture. Maybe even get a bank loan. They won't pay attention until there is money on the table. Someone at Round 2 will pay attention.

I should have clarified. I never saw a photo of the tooling. The photo I saw was a room full of kits. You could see each and every subject in the archives. As far as tooling; yes, tooling was probably modified from year to year. The archived kids could be a starting point for Round 2 if they ever decide to retool the 68 Coronet R/T.

I beleive we will see a reissue of the 68 Coronet R/T sooner or later. As stated in a previous response, this is one of those very obvious holes that needs to be filled by either Round 2 or maybe Moebius. Round 2 has this kit in their archives. Think about the different versions of this kit that can be done: a stock car (#99 Paul Goldsmith car), Dick Landy drag car, convertible and a hardtop. I remember about ten years ago Round 2 announced they were going to release the 68 Coronet R/T kit. We were very excited about this news. Even the model kit retailers listed this as a future release. However, it was cancelled. Lots of modelers were disappointed. This happened again back in the late 90's when Round 2 anounced the release of the 69 Coronet R/T kit. It even was pictured. But, that too was cancelled. What we all need to do is contact Round 2 and Moebius and request they do a 68 Coronet R/T kit. The more people contact the kit manufactures , the more they will listen. This could even be done as a limited run of about 10,000 kits . For example , the Model King (Dave Burkett) has done these ventures.

Charlie Larkin: Hello, Read your response in reference to the situation with Modelhaus. I wholeheartedly agree with you on the 3d printing. In my opinion 3d printing is the future of the resin casting industry. The masters are already done. There just needs to be a person or company to buy all of Modelhaus's masters and do full blown production with 3d printing. That's the direction that this operation would have to take. If you are the one that decides to take on this I beleive the modeling community would highly support you. As someone mentioned in a prior response to this thread; parted out kits are going for big money now. These individuals in my opinion are taking advantage of the fact that Modelhaus is gone and there is no other way to get original parts unless you buy from these people and buy at very high prices. Well, good luck if you decide to do this. I know many modelers will be both happy and releived that someone has picked up where Modelhaus left off.

Paint it or build it in its molded color
GMP440 replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I did it once with the Revell 70 Trans Am kit. Did not paint the body. Instead, I used the Millenium polish kit and buffed out the white body. Came out pretty good. Every now and then I look at it and think I should have painted the body. -
This MPC 1970 Dodge Charger original got no bids. Also, an MPC 68 Coronet kit received no bids as well. I gather no one bid on the charger kit maybe because you can get Revell's newly released 70 Charger R/T for a lot less? Also, the Coronet got no action as well. Makes you wonder what's going on in the model collecting hobby these days. Crazy prices on the auction Bay.
GMP440 replied to GMP440's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I whole heartedly agree that the MPC 68 Coronet R/T is a very rare kit. Most unusual for that kit to hit over $1000. Been tracking prices on these for years. Most I've seen was in the $400 range. It's strange that in the last couple of years I am seeing more and more of the MPC 68 and 69 Coronet kits up for sale on ebay and other sites. Not quite flooding the market , but more than usual. Could this be a hint that in the future we may be seeing Round 2 release a 68 Coronet R/T kit and that individuals that have these kits now are dumping them to get the most money? Who knows. -

Hindsight is 20/20. It's interesting how good we had it when Modelhaus was in business all those years. I bought a few things from then over the years. Even got to meet them at the NNL East. I wished I would have bought more. Anyone else feel the same. Now, I see alot of people looking for parts for those old kits. Parts that used to be available from Modelhaus and now no more. Modelhaus was a great parts opportunity, but like anything else, it comes to an end. What is everyone's take on this?

I enjoyed building the kit. But as stated in a previous post , there are a couple of issues with it's accuracy; which is true. I also have an original AMT 65 Coronet kit and put next to the Polar Lights Coronet you can spot the differences. All in all I enjoyed building it. The Polar Lights kit is a 2 in 1; stock or drag, with 2 sets of tires and wheels. The drag tires are the nice pie crust cheater slicks.

Model Builders' Warehouse 3D Printed Parts

I like the looks of the clear orange that the parts are coming out with. You could do a nice looking see through display engine showing the internal parts. -

Hobby Lobby 20% Off All Kits
GMP440 replied to Mike999's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The 20% off goes until December 8th. Was at Hobby Lobby today and saw the sign. Model car section was full. I guess a lot of people are waiting after Dec. 8 to use the 40% off coupon.
