  1. Got it to the roller stage. Stance turned out pretty good I think. Very happy with the way this kit fits together. Id say it's going to become my favourite kit ive ever built. Instruction sheet leaves you guessing in some area's, but Tim Boyd's build up of the test shot has been helpful when not sure about some of the assembly.
  2. Well shows I didnt suss out the front end enough at the time of the idea, the front axle cant go above the leaf springs due to the engine cross member. But all good worked out another way to lower the front a bit. Thankfully the axle blocks on the rear worked out good. Cut of the stub axles and reposition. Oob stub axle location. Cut of a pinned with brass rod. Drilled new location hole for the pins. Stub axle mounted in new postion, should be a noticable difference from oob stance . Engine pretty much complete. Hopefully it will be a roller by the end of tonight.
  3. Diamond burrs arent super coarse. If rough its easy enough to smooth out the hole by brushing on some Tamiya extra thin.
  4. A diamond coated ball burr would be the go. Quick and easy to achieve the effect. There is a cheap generic brand set out there. Comes with 5 ball end burr's.
  5. Started to putting the Gasser engine together. Few touch ups and paint detail to do here and there. Base coated the body with Gaia Notes and shot it through the Meng .3mm fan cap @32psi. Couldnt resist and had to do a mock up. Has slight micro peel, but all good its smooth enough and its just as base coat anyways.
  6. Excellent design work. Turned out way cool. Surprised you didnt print a chain.
  7. I use cheap genreal purpose or multi purpose thinner from the Auto parts store for cleaning up of Tamiya lacquer based paints from the brush and airbrush. I recycle the 10ml jars fill with the thinner for brush wash out and also put thinner in a squirty bottle for flushing the Airbrush
  8. Airbrushed a black base coat on the Laurel. Painted the Gasser wheels.
  9. Bit of paint work done on some of the Nova Gasser parts, applied Alclad chrome to most parts. Applied Alclad polished aluminium to the heads, blower manifold and pulleys also the magneto. Custom mix of Tamiya TS paints for the orange on the engine block. Very happy how the headers turned out.
  10. Decided to wing it with no test fitting and see what it ends up like. Flip the front axle to above the leaf, and 4mm axle blocks on the rear. LOL! Thats the stance ive always liked anyways if I dont go level.
  11. Good observation skills as always Roger. Yes the kit does have issues concerning the centering of the wheels both front and rear, it got worse after I lowered in the oob suspension locations. To adjust, the rear was moved foward 3.5mm. Front was moved foward 2mm. But Im still not happy with the front, 1mm more should be about right im hoping. Ive had to sacrifice scale accuracy with the suspension components to get it so low. Price to pay when going low, but I will atleast try make it look somewhat functional. Plan is to show a before and after once I get it all dialed in. I can see what your saying about the roof, perception can be a funny thing sometimes.
  12. This is the type of build I enjoy and like to see. Of to a good start with the frame work. 1:1 Inspiration will be a good motivater for sure.
  13. Good to see you still being a creative genius. Interesting build, trick looking frame on the 1:1.
  14. Oh the irony, saying I wasnt liking how high the Mercury was sitting oob. But Im going to go with oob stance on the Nova Gasser LOL! Thinking il have to lower it a bit just to say its lowered. Started prep'n parts and applied some 1500 surfacer. What a great kit, Im really liking it so far.
  15. Looks gangsta with those wheels.
  16. Done well Joakim. Nice colour. Looks good rolling on the old school Techno Racing TV-R wheels. Sometimes the easy quick builds are most enjoyable.
  17. Moebius came through and sent a grill for the Mercury which arrived today.
  18. Cool and my favourite colour. Thanks for sharing. So the 1:1 does stance up high too, its not just oob kit stance.
  19. Just a shout out to say thanks to the guys at Moebius. I purchased the Mercury Cyclone Comet and the kit was missing the grill. Went through the customer service contact on the Moebius Models website and Erik sent me out the part.
  20. Liking the idea so far. Another build thread to learn whats possible. What engine are you going with ?? Have a similar idea for one my Gasser kits, but going build it Aussie burnout car style.
  21. Got this kit back out and worked on setting the stance. Oob ride height and kit supplied wheels. Yeah nah, not going to be riding that high. Put on the wheels I want to use and worked out it needed to be lowered about 10mm. After alot of messing about, got the stance roughed in to where im happy with it. Could have slammed it and went curbside, but I want to have an engine. So had to settle with how it sits, which is way better than stock oob ride height.
  22. Nova's have arrived, going to clear the bench and build the Gasser.
  23. Good to see something different. I like it. Great job all round, interior definitely got the VIP look with all the wood grain, and done well with air set up in the trunk.
  24. Good to see someone finally doing a build thread with the Gasser kit. Glad you are first up and showing the way and seeing the direction and style its going to be a very interesting build to follow and learn from.
