  1. Thanks Chris and Nigel, not sure on the using the Laurel parts was just suss'n out the idea.
  2. Sorry I didnt reply earlier, If you only have wet and dry sand paper 2000 would have been the go, 1000 is a bit too coarse will leave scratch's and more chance of burning through. Polishing cloth grits would be best thing to use when colour wet sanding, go over the whole thing with 4000-8000 and give it a wash, then give it another gradual build up to a wet coat. Shouldnt need clear over Tamiya TS solid colour's if you apply them just right.
  3. Good to see some progress JJ. Wonder what has happened to everyone else ??
  4. Anyone have any updates when these will be available seeing as the date has been changed from late February to March ??
  5. Liking the custom work you have done so far, that bed is a big improvement.
  6. Yeah cool, looks good with Formula Mesh wheels When I find the side skirts I will build one with the full body kit.
  7. Was thinking the same the other day.
  8. After getting the stance set up decided to do a bit more work on this kit. I really like the 80 Skyline, such a cool shape and style. And the kit is one of my favourites, lot of fun to build and customize. The wheels were in the kit. But this is what they are. Modified the bumpers. Straight oob they stick out a lot. Filled in the number plate surround on the tail light panel. Modified the front and fitted a Laurel headlights and grill, just checking the idea out for now. Here is a couple I built previously.
  9. Set up the stance on one my favourite Aoshima kits.
  10. Please share the results from the testing, will be interesting to see the difference in the surface finish.
  11. Some supplies from BNA Model World. Kits, set of wheels and supplies from Rhypla Builds.
  12. I think for the look you are going for Claude's suggestion of a gloss white base for the polished aluminum would be the go. Do a couple test pieces to see what works best. @peteski Do you have any recommendations regarding the OP. With your vastly superior knowledge it would be good to see or hear a suggestion instead of the totally unnecessary off topic discussion.
  13. Still on the bench. Waiting for the weather to cool down a bit, so I can apply the clear.
  14. Good to see back posting again Bob. Looks like you progressing well with this build. Unusual little machine.
  15. Messing around with 68. Joys of metal axle kits, easy to change the stance.
  16. Will be awhile before I work on the Comet, have to wait until USPS decide to ship to Australia again. Then I will receive a grill from Moebius. Yeah you should, always enjoying seeing your Nissan builds.
  17. Put a surfacer check coat on the 68, so had to get out a 67 and do the same.
  18. Decided to apply a check coat of 1500 black surfacer.
  19. Way too many, but thats what keeps it interesting for me. I get bored and lose interest easily.
  20. Applied a coat of gray surfacer and think ive decided on the wheels These are the wheels. Havent used them on a build before.
  21. Same usual suspects thinking they are the voice of authority, logic and reason. Visibility leads to credibility. So glad I spend more time at my bench than what I do on here lately. Much more fun actually building something than talking about. Guess I enjoy the hobby in a different way than certain suspects.
  22. Got the body all prep sanded and flares attached, next will apply 1500 gray surfacer. Still undecided on the wheels, so will keep using these for now.
  23. Quality products make a difference. No worries glad it worked out for you, should try the levelling thinner it will come out even better.
