The 225 "Odd-Fire" V6 found its way into Oldsmobile A-bodies through 1964-1965 . Its nomenclature was Econo-Way ; a 'relabelled' Buick 225 .

Grotheer Cuda & Ramchargers Duster.
1972coronet replied to caine440's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Looks like the Duster is either a 1973 or an early-production 1974 ; the front bumper guards are the '73 style . I recognise its class as SS/L , which is news to me ; I've seen SS/J(A) and SS/K(A) , both 360 Duster (and Dart Sport) classes (e.g. , Judy Lily's 360 Duster) . Oh , well . It's of no consequence to me . That Don Grotheer 'Cuda looks GREAT ! -

Search & Destroy , indeed . Creem magazine , 1974 . Iggy Pop takes a hammer to numerous copies of Raw Power , which by '74 was in the bargain bin at numerous record stores all over the country . BTW , Raw Power is defintely not for the weak ! It's one of my all-time favourite albums , esp the 1997 C.D. issue . -
That TH-200 was one of the biggest razzies from GM during that time . Aluminum drums ? Really ? In a street-operated vehicle ? I wasn't aware of the radiator issues . Were they sub-sized or some-thing ?

1965 Plymouth Fury. Update, 7/27, WHEW!
1972coronet replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Even though I'm a California native , I have travelled enough times to salty roads regions ; I'm no stranger to the rapid oxidation . In 1976 , I was with my parents on a trip to Pennsylvania , Ohio , Michigan , and West Virginia . One of my aunts had a 1974 Caprice 4 door which she bought new ; by June 1976 , its lower-quarters and lower-front-fenders were rotted-out ! I remember being in awe that car had parts of its structure missing ! Ha ha ha . I was 6 years old , and was just amazed . My mum yelled to me , "Don't play with that rust !" . Ha ha . -
Let's See Some Glue Bombs!

That's it ! Nebraska ! I knew that it was some agency in that region ; Washington came to my mind , but I wasn't sure . Imagine finding one of those bad boys ! I wonder if they were , in es , a 2 door version of the typical 4 door [ WK41U7A / U8A ] ( e.g. , Certified Speedometer , rubber mats , extra welding / bracing , cast iron K-member isolators , etc. , etc. ) ? -
The AMT 1968 is a Z/28 . The latest issue has 4 sets of tyres ( !! ) , and is a '2-in-1' . I'm yet to get to building the one I bought , so I can't opine on its ease-of-assembly , nor of its inaccuracies (if any) . The AMT 1970 1/2 comes in two flavours : Z/28 (again , avoid the early 90's issue !) and Baldwin-Motion Phase III ; both are of the RS version . That is one really nice kit ! Sure it has its issues ( mounting points on the runners for the front bumperettes are less-than-ideal ; and the headers-to-sidepipes junction is an 'exercise' ) , but it is nice !
-
My vote is for the Revell 1969 Camaro . Many variants are available : - Z/28 -RS , complete with the crossram induction and headers , along with the Chambered Exhaust . - Baldwin-Motion 427 (again with the RS parts , and the exclusive Motion parts ) - SS/RS 396 Convertible (with Pace Car embellishments) - COPO "ZL-1" . An L72 is ostensibly an option as well . This one features a nice 427 , headers , standard grille (with the typical Bowtie emblems that the COPO's had) ,and bare wheels with hubcaps . This kit has "left-over" RS parts found in all of the other issues . Mix & Match ideas are endless !

No problem ( ) . For a minute I thought that you may have been referring to the BOSS 351 ; an engine with whom few people are familiar with .

Search & Destroy was penned in 1971 by James "Iggy Pop" Osterberg while he was in England on Main Man's dime (at David Bowie's behest ) . The song's title was taken from the front cover of Newsweek ( IIRC ) about a 'search and destroy' mission in Vietnam. The two songs which really make me laugh which are oft misappropriated : - Lust for Life ( 1977 ; song's influence was Burroughs' The Ticket That Exploded amongst other Burroughs' books ) - Walk on the Wild Side ( Lou Reed , 1972 ) , which is a song about the "Superstars" of Andy Warhol's Factory ; the transvestites , hustlers , rent boys , etc. , etc. -

With the 4-door version being reissued ad nauseam , replacement parts should be easy to find . I can't remember which agencies had the 2 door models with 'A38' ( Police Car Conversion ) , but they were powered by the 400 big block ; think : Force 440 that MPC released in c.1978 . -

I hope that the moulds still exist for this highly coveted kit !! Is it Round2 whom has some of the Jo-Han moulds ? -
Unbelievable '70 Torino ! The yellow was a great choice for sure ; and the red-orange 'laser' stripes really pop . You can park that bad boy on my lawn and I won't get mad !
-
Yuri - That has got to be the most exemplery sample of a 1968 El Camino that I have ever seen ! Naturally , your photography is the best ; the camera angles and the natural , home-land background really bring every-thing together . Keep up with the great work , my friend !

Welcome to the forum , Paulo ! That Gremlin is perfect ! Its stance is right out of the 1970's here in the United States ; very good ! Were AMC vehicles sold ( or even manufactured ) in Brasil / South America ? I am looking forward to seeing more nice build-up kits from you

1965 Plymouth Fury. Update, 7/27, WHEW!
1972coronet replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
You're right , Steve ; those D-body Imperials ( the pre-1965 , full-perimetre-frame models ) and the 1965 - 1977 C-bodies (though not the Sport Fury models ;-) ) were sacrificed . Weren't they eventually 'banned' from Demo Derby competition ? Or is that an 'urban legend' ? BTW : Your work on this beauty is outstanding ! The boiler-room additions are excellent ( oh , how much I despise moulded-on brake master cylinders ! ) . Keep up the great work ! -
The 429 wasn't a one-off ; it was a new(er) engine , part of the so-called "385-Series" ( 429** and 460 cubes ) . IIRC , 1970 was its first year (same with the 460 , though that was initially a big car powerplant ) ; a slated replacement for the ageing "F-E" ( 352 - 360 - 390 - 427 - 428 ) and "M-E-L" ( ? -420 - 430 - ? ) line-of-engines . Please , correct my information if it is wrong . ** The 1969 BOSS 429 was actually part of the 385-Series , IIRC , making 1969 its premiere .

I don't think that they were all that unpopular ; I just believe that they had a very high mortality rate during the 70's (e.g. , 21.10.1973 OPEC embargo) . Lots of the C-bodies ended-up in {{wince}} demolition derbies because of their charging bull front subframe -
Let's See Some Survivors!
1972coronet replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Lots of really nice and cool survivors ! Some of them look as though they were just built ~! Unfortunately , the 1987 Whittier Earthquake wiped-out 99 % of my collection that was built prior to the date it struck . There was one survivor : the MPC 1/16 scale Cobra which I'd built in 1984 . However , it was sacrificed in order to restore another Cobra in c.1990 . -
The only G-body / A-Special Malibu kit I've seen was the Monogram 1/32 scale police car kit . Not sure if any resin kits are available of the G-Malibu , but then agin I *think* that I saw a resin 1980 coupe (2-door) . As a side note ; the 4 door sedan G-Malibu's rear door glass was fixed-in-place ( !! ) . Perfect for police use

Very nice ! It is great to see that some-one is building such an obscure race-car ! I grew up not too far from Bill Kraft Rambler , which was in Norwalk , California , on Firestone Boulevard . Here is another , lesser-known Rambler from Bill Kraft : http://jubileejeeps.org/327/418.htm

Your splendid build is taking me back to 1976 ! My parents went to the local AMC dealer ( Ricker Motors Nash-Rambler-AMC ) in 1976 to check out new cars . On the showroom was a bronze-ish Matador coupe and a white Pacer ; I fell in love with that wild looking Matador coupe ! I have two of these ol' AMT annuals in my pile ; a '75 and a '76 . I started on the '76 some 11 years ago but gave up when my mum fell ill . The only things I don't like about the AMT kits of that era : no brake master cylinder ; hole-through-the-crankcase , and ; those horrid 2-piece tyres ! Otherwise , a fine kit . Convincing AMC V8 ( 343-360-401 ) in spite of the aforementioned hole-through-block ; decent Torque-Command 8 (read : 727 Torqueflite) trans ; separate catalytic converter ; and convincing proportions . Keep up the great work , David !
