Mine arrived in Utah yesterday. Looks like another good issue!! -
Ollie's strike again

I know - it is beautiful! I still have the body from the kit, but it was eventually converted into a narrowed funny car body!! -

There are some nice engine parts in the Vette and a nice pair of slicks. Here is a pic of how the kit started out before getting modified over the years. I read somewhere that the kit chassis is actually from the C2 Vette. I am building this kit now solely because the original kit is the first kit I ever built. I got it for my 8th or 9th birthday and it got me hooked on this hobby for life!! -

Unless they produce or plan on special runs just for Ollies, I always think it is too bad to see some cool kits end up there (ie: the Chevy II, the Avanti and the modified Stocker.) That said, I did pick up a Barris Surf Woody there a few years back that I would not otherwise have bought, and I had a great time building it, so I have benefited from these deals. In fact, I told my wife we are going to have to relocate back East to be near an Ollies again. So far she has not agreed! -
Fantastic! Congrats on that!!

Here are two from the series - the Comet and the Cuda, both with Slixx decals. I also threw in the Boss Nova, which is just slightly more advanced than the other kits being discussed. I own most of the kits in the series but never seem to get around to building them. Part of the problem is I want to remove the wipers from them and it’s a pain. I removed them from the Cuda and it went fine tho, and the Comet didn’t have them.

AMT 1968 Corvette Custom with twin blower/turbo

Really nice! I am just finishing mine but mine is out of the box. Love what you did with the windshield! The best pic is the last, shot from the rear. BTW you are making me think maybe I should use the front spoiler. -
That is really great! Love the wheels! Just watched an episode of Bitchin Rides last night and Kinding put similar wheels on a Chevelle.

Crazy and fantastic!! Excellent!!

Show us your completed JOHAN kits!

I only have 2, both nitro-burners. Strangely I don't have a pic of the Mustang FC, and it is in storage so I can't take a pic. Here is the Pinto, which underwent an engine transplant. I did have a Jo-han kit as a boy, maybe a Javelin, but it is long-gone, altho I believe its redline tires are in my supply of tires that I still have. -
Nice! I’d like to fine one of those! I have the Camaro and Challenger.

For anyone here who is a fan of the bands Joy Division or New Order, their bass player, Peter Hook, drove one of these in the ‘70s when he was in Joy Division. Don’t know what color tho.
-
That is nice. Good color. Maybe I should build mine!
-
Very nice! That tonneau looks hand-stitched. How did you do that? If I recall, that is not the kit tonneau.
-
Very nice! The 2002 is one of my favorite cars - no idea why I’ve never built a model of one.

This is based on the Hobby NuNu M6 GT3 race car. The kit is being featured in an article in the next issue of MCM (issue 222). I decided to turn it into a street-legal car and make it look like something you could actually see on the road. I filled in the scoops and ductwork on the hood, one on the sides, modified the rear pan/lower rear fenders to more closely match a stock M6, filled in the mounting slots for the rear wing, and reduced the size of the diffuser. It's painted in Tamiya metallic orange and topcoated in Tamiya clear. I added a stock interior from my parts box, and modified the dash to resemble a BMW dash. The wheels are from Aoshima, and the tires are Pegasus. It came out just about as I hoped - this would make an amazing "track day" car in real life!!

Where's Chad?..............
Chris in Berwyn replied to fairlane1320's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I’ve heard two rumors about Chad’s absence. One is Revell is trying to hire him to do videos for them and Round 2 and Revell are in a bidding war for his services. The second is he is in England auditioning to be the next James Bond since Daniel Craig has retired from the role. Hopefully all this gets settled soon. ? -
Where's Chad?..............
Chris in Berwyn replied to fairlane1320's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Indeed! I am going to buy one less Round2 kit than planned for every days Chad is late with the November update! -
I didn’t put the decals on mine as they were actually stickers, not decals. I got my kit at AAA Hobbies in NJ, which is Stevens International’s store, but I have seen them elsewhere.

Where is Chad? Any Round2/NY Toy Fair news?
Chris in Berwyn posted a topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
No Oct new product video from Chad at R2. Also, I haven’t seen word of of the promised new products being announced at the NY Toy Fair. Does anyone have any news? BTW the NY Toy Fair is moving to New Orleans next year after 100+ fairs in NYC. -
The lack of windows in the Long Nose is bizarre - but it rings a bell. I still have the body from that kit when I built it as a boy, and I seem to recall it has a clear acetate windshield - so I guess my 12 year old or so self felt it needed a windshield and made one! I would double check, but it is in storage right now.

Issue 221
Chris in Berwyn replied to Dave Ambrose's topic in Model Cars Magazine News and Discussions
I was away but it got here to Utah over the past couple days. I always like articles about kitbashing, so even tho I will not build a '96 Bronco, I am really enjoying the article. MC is just doing a great job since the revival. I hope that most former SA subscribers know it is available and either subscribe or buy copies in their LHS
