Some seriously cool looking things going on here. On the occasion of the 10th running of this CPB I must publicly express my gratitude to Jantrix for creating a thread that motivated me to return to modeling after about ten years. I don't build a lot, so most of my completed builds lately have been Cannonball cars. I made my one and probably only trip to GSLMCC XXVI a couple weeks ago where Len Woodruff selected my 2012 Cannonballer for the Bob Barnett Award for custom car building. A humbling surprise. So kudos to Rob and the rest of you knuckleheads who lay out the kind of jolly competition that makes me try a little harder. Thanks guys.

X2. Your Indy cars from the muscle car era are a delight to see because you execute the crafting of them so well. That goes for your other subjects as well, so I look forward to see what you come up with next.

X2. They are museum quality and interest in them will likely extend beyond the modeling community. I would even consider contacting a nationally established auction house and get their feedback. Be sure to offer continuity to them, like who he was, his role at Model Cars Magazine and his published material. I would do that before scattering them on ebay.

The full roof decal looked fine, but it didn't contribute so much that you couldn't go without it. Still looks racy. If you're using laser printer decals, the ink tends to flake off if you do tight cutting with a knife.

My optimistic gut feeling is that it's sitting in a room somewhere unopened. That it slipped through the cracks somewhere between the host club and the hotel and is essentially in someone's no-mans land. I'd push the search again next April when people start pulling boxes out and someone says, "What the...?"

I think $8 to $10 is reasonable for starts, then be flexible to accept offers or bundle rates.

Scott, apologies for the late response. I checked the GSLMCC off my bucket list this past weekend. Just got home yesterday. Here's a photo diagram of my casting table. Nothing too fancy but it works pretty well. The portable vacuum pump came from a plumbing supply company but you can get them cheaper at discount hardware stores along with the (painters) pressure pot. Not everybody uses a vacuum chamber but I can tell the casters who don't. Venting air is to casting what lighting is to photography and taking short cuts shows.

I would say the price of whatever your expenses were. If he's a tight friend, pay it forward and let him have his money. If he decides to slip you a gratuity, then accept.

Thanks a lot guys. Positive words always keep the wind in the sails. I'm looking forward to continuing, but my GF and I are prepping for the thousand mile journey to our first and probably only GSL this weekend so modeling is on hold.

That's the kit I'm using in this WIP. I bought it from a friend at the end of the NNL North swap a few years ago for $5 because he couldn't get $8 or $10 for it all day. There are some things to like about it and for the older modelers there's something sentimental about it, but I'm not sure how much demand there is for it. Personally I often prefer the old AMT axle kits.

The engine is finished. I did a about a six inch section of the headers or they would be dragging on the ground. I just don't have pics yet.
